RS Confessional

Seeing the thread about the fan who doesn´t like the blues made me think of this thread idea...

You´re a big Stones fan (that´s why you´re here and not doing something more useful)but what can you confess...?

- I love the Stones, but I havent read Life (nor do I really intend to. I´m not a big fan of Keith´s cliched self-aggrandizing)

- I´ve listed to (and enjoy) Undercover way more that Beggars Banquet. Im fact I only listened to BB all they way through for the first time in 20 years yesterday. (and yes, it was fantastic)

- Midnight Rambler would not be in my top 20 or even 30 of favourite Stones songs

So, what do you dare confess here?

OK:

Here goes:

- I like Satanic Majesties Request

- Goats Head Soup is my all time favourite Stones album

- I also enjoy Undercover, but not as much as Beggars' Banquet

- I think Streets of Love is a Diane Warren pastiche, and is good as it is

- I hate Johnny Cash's cover version of No Expectations

- I think Sleep Tonight is a hidden gem

- I like Bridges to Babylon

- I think Get Yer Ya Yas Out sounds better on a cheap beat box than a high-end CD player.

1) Back To Zero Sucks

2) Darryl is a great bass player

3) I currently like the Winos better then the Stones

4) I believe Mick is the destructive force in the latter day Stones

1.) Don't see all the mega fuss over Taylor at these shows, it's a nice touch but he's not going to inject 1972 fever like most people think he will. I prefer Woody, now he's on fire.

2.) My favourite Stone is Bill, followed closely by Charlie.

I enjoy Undercover more than GHS.

I like Hearts For Sale.

I find Sway a little boring.

I think Shake Your Hips, I Got The Blues and Moonlight Mile were some of Taylor's finest work with the Stones.

I've always enjoyed Any Way You Look At It...

I LIKE THE VEGAS ERA AS MUCH AS ALL THE REST. IT HAS A CERTAIN FLAVOUR...

MJ boxed himself in... he won't write music with the one person he's created great music with AND at the same time states no one wants to hear the 'new' music. Oh well.

I FIND THE STONES AN EMBARRASMENT THESE DAYS
I LOVE DIRTY WORK
I LIKE MICK'S SOLO RECORDS

1. I would rather hear the Rolling Stones do Chuck Berry songs than their own originals.

1. I listen to Exile most every day..
2. I did not follow the Stones much at all from the 80's until last year.
3. It's brave and inspiring for them to put themselves to the test on stage.
4. "Talk is Cheap" is a great album.
5. Watching them in Brooklyn in 2012 made me feel young.

- I think Undercover is one of their best efforts.

- I have not listened to A Bigger Bang in at least 3 years. Maybe more.

- I like 'Indian Girl.'

- After 2005, I figured I would never bother to see the Stones live again.

- I am going to see them in June. Twice.

- I want the Stones to make a country album with fiddles and lap steels, etc., before they call it a day.

- I would rather see a new Winos album than a new Stones album. I think.

- I visit this site every freaking day.

- Exile is not in my top 5 Stones albums

- I have a lot more of these.

I confess the only stones albums I really don't listen to are Dirty Work, Goat's Head Soup and Bridges to Babylon.

1. Hardly listening to the Stones (and visiting IORR) at all.
2. I've had phases like this before.

I confess to:

1. Only liking Stones albums/songs from 1964 up to 'IORR'album (the real Stones for me comprises only the Jones and Taylor eras).

2. From the 1975-2013 period only listening to the song "Start Me Up."

3. Alright, I liked the 'Undercover' album whereas many here don't or mock it.

I like stadium shows.
I really like Arena shows.
I love club/theater shows.
I like Miss You.
I love Gimme Shelter studio version, but can't stand live versions with Lisa.
I don't like Keith's mini-sets (except for Happy).
I still listen to Hot Rocks religiously.
I like Love You Live---ALL of it, although I only listen to it apprx. once a year.
I hate Fool To Cry.
I love Angie.
I think Start Me Up is lame...same for You Got Me Rocking.
I think Too Much Blood is their last truly great studio recording.
I like the Brian era better than the last 30 years.

I wish Street Fighting Man and Sympathy for the Devil were left off of Beggars Banquet and made singles.
I love Black and Blue and Bridges to Babylon.
I prefer Ronnie Wood to Mick Taylor.

Nice idea for a thread....

I HATE Angie....

I probably listen to Black and Blue most often

I always skip song #1 on Sticky Fingers....

I enjoy Wandering Spirit and Goddess in the Doorway...

I named my son Michael and call him Mick...

I am jealous of people who share Mick Jagger's birthday....

I LOVED I Go Crazy in Europe ABB and wish they would play it in the U.S.

My husband was not a big Stones Fan...but I married him anyway....he has come around smiling smiley

I agree with Mick's assessment of EXILE in According to the Rolling Stones.

I would rather be boiled in hot oil than go to another stadium show.

Mick & Keith's songwriting prowess left them years ago and now they are running on fumes and formulas for "new" material.

I think Gomper is great.

I think Angie, Miss You, and Emotional Rescue all suck
I actually like their version of Hitch Hike
I think Too Much Blood and Heaven are great songs
Satanic Majesties sucks
I was sick of hearing Start Me Up by 1984
I never liked Fool To Cry until around 2002
Never liked As Tears Go By until I heard them do it live in '06
JJF sound better today than it did in 1968
