OT: Paul McCartney starts world tour in Poland in June

Good news for Macca fans. He'll be starting a world tour in Poland on June 22 -which is four days after his 71st birthday. So yes, septuagenarians can still rock.

More news on Paul's site [www.paulmccartney.com]

A tour, or just a few dates scattered here and there? He hasn't really done a proper tour since 2005 and probably never will again.

This is what it says on his website...

The tour will see Paul and his band travel the world throughout the year, even visiting some places they've never been before. Further announcements and dates will be added in the coming weeks so stay tuned to PaulMcCartney.com for updates and ticketing details.

That could mean 30 shows or it could mean three.

Great, but here in Germany there are too many good concerts in July. Hope I can see them all. This could be a very exciting Rock And Roll year!

Over the next 6/7 months there are shows in Europe/UK by:

The Rolling Stones (99% certain)
The Who
Paul McCartney
Neil Young and Crazy Horse
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Fleetwood Mac
Roger Waters
Black Crowes
Todd Rundgren
Elvis Costello
Flaming Lips
Lucinda Williams

to name just a few

NOOOO! Like it is not enough I have to skip Springsteen this year, since we are ecpecting a baby right about the time when he will be sort of close to where I live. And now it looks exactly the same with Paul. I would love to see him again so much, I can only hope that there will be some suitable date for me.

Wonder If that bew album of his will be out in time for that first show...doubt it as it would have been announced at the same time and I'm not sure of "Out There" for an album title! Well at least he's still putting new music out there!

Tix prices for Paul in Poland are 1110 PLN (about 350 $) close to stage. The cheapest are about 85 $. There will be seats on the floor - cheapsest - 110 $. C'mon it's sick. This is stadium show not an arena.

That sounds like a Mick T "tour"

It's just Paul's M.O. nowadays. His recent "On The Run" tour, while technically consisting of 40 shows, spread those 40 shows out over a period of nearly a year and a half. That's just two or three shows every month, which is basically the way he "tours" these days.

Paul's a true workaholic! Remember a documentary where a former Beatle, Ringo Starr I believe, said they'd all groan, Paul wants to go back to work again when he'd start calling. Said partly in jest, it's a good thing. My friends saw Paul at Shea Stadium in New York two years ago & said he was fabulous. Wish I could've gone with!

I don't think it is a big full fledged world tour. But more like selected dates. He has been doing this now for the past four-five years. Somewhat like the Never Ending Tour (Dylan)...

i think this will be more of a tour than the previous On the run. And I would say, if i´m right, it would be the last one. one night stands saved for the future but I don´t think about a real tour...

Except that Bob does some 90 dates a year. Annually. I would call that a regular tour.

Hello,

Pleased to hear that Macca and four of the most talented musos are going out again and if I had to back any act to give you a whirlwind and quality three hours for top-dollar, then this would be it.

Not sure I would go purely because on his last UK jaunt I saw two literally perfect shows and the urge is to leave it there. Probably sounds like I'm contradicting myslef a bit, but it was a case of terrific audience, brilliant seats (although you stand) and enough joy to light-up a small country!

On a related note, has anyone else read this:

Not sensationalist or muck-spreading but pretty engrossing stuff, some of it totally unknown to me. You will not believe how complicated their business became or how many law-suits were actioned. At one point Apple even had to take action against one of their own companies, a la Rutles. Astonishing...

Cheers,

Simon.

I see the prices for Vienna are lower than Poland which surprised me.

Also got standing at Vienna as well which is good.
Must admit the ticketing thing so far for these 2 gigs seems pretty good.
Especially when yuo look at the Stones tix fiasco,November-December last year. confused smiley

Yeah interesting... The Poland show is all seated, whereas the Vienna show is pitch standing with a golden circle.
