he is not on album covers , he is not at press conferences, he is never mentioned as a stone by any of the big four , pretty much sets it in STONE if you get my drift

Hate to disagree with you jazzbass but Stu personally and musically was close to the band in a way that Leavell never can be.
Ian Stewart was and is dearly loved and respected by Bill, Charlie, Mick and Keith

In an article on Daryl a while back, Keith generously said that anyone on stage with them was a Rolling Stone.
Then all of the women on stage in this clip from Let's Spend the Night Together are Stones.
All of 'em.
PLUS, since this is from 1981, they all have seniority over Chuck.

Just flipped through The Rolling Stones 50 book, all 352 pages that also included 1,000+ illustrations.
There are no pictures of Chuck Leavell and his name does not appear in the Index.

"This is our story of fifty fantastic years. We started out as a blues band playing the clubs and more recently we’ve filled the largest stadiums in the world with the kind of show that none of us could have imagined all those years ago. Curated by us, it features the very best photographs and ephemera from and beyond our archives."
