he is not on album covers , he is not at press conferences, he is never mentioned as a stone by any of the big four , pretty much sets it in STONE if you get my drift

Seeing...listening to Chuck Leavell is not the reason music fans spend several hundred dollars for a ticket.

As much a Stone as Stu.

Hate to disagree with you jazzbass but Stu personally and musically was close to the band in a way that Leavell never can be.

Ian Stewart was and is dearly loved and respected by Bill, Charlie, Mick and Keith

Not to mention the fact that, along with Brian, he was a founding member.

You know, Chuck is a great keyboardist, and great guy, and his job with the Stones is great... but he's not one of the seven legendary Rolling Stones - MICK, KEITH, CHARLIE, Ronnie, Bill, Mick T and Brian!!! winking smiley

And I forgot to say that it's correct when you say Stu was on of them, but I usually don't include him.

In an article on Daryl a while back, Keith generously said that anyone on stage with them was a Rolling Stone.

Then all of the women on stage in this clip from Let's Spend the Night Together are Stones.

All of 'em.

PLUS, since this is from 1981, they all have seniority over Chuck. tongue sticking out smiley

When I first saw this at 14 or so I thought, "Mick probably boned all of those women!" Like when I'd hear TUMBLIN' DICE I'd think "He probably boned those backup singers!" AWWseome!

Just flipped through The Rolling Stones 50 book, all 352 pages that also included 1,000+ illustrations.

There are no pictures of Chuck Leavell and his name does not appear in the Index.

Darryl is mentioned once - no pics.

Ironically, Brian is mentioned 8 times, Bill 5 times & Mick T 3 times.

this is just another example of Chuck's much-admired modesty and lack of vanity.

According to The Rolling Stones official website, Chuck is not a Rolling Stone.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts & Ronnie Wood

This photographic autobiography features images selected by the band accompanied by their own words.

The photographers include Gered Mankowitz, Jean-Marie Périer, Dezo Hoffman, Michael Cooper, Terry O’Neill, Bent Rej and Philip Townsend – the photographer for their first ever shoot.

"This is our story of fifty fantastic years. We started out as a blues band playing the clubs and more recently we’ve filled the largest stadiums in the world with the kind of show that none of us could have imagined all those years ago. Curated by us, it features the very best photographs and ephemera from and beyond our archives."

Mick, Keith, Charlie & Ronnie

I guess that puts that one to bed.
