I would be willing to bet that none of the reporters (that interviewed him) asked him if there were any plans for a new Stones album! Congrats to the Stones though, on their awards. Nice to still be relevant after a half century in the business.

Ron Wood is among those joining Johnny Marr for a performance of The Smiths' 1985 song How Soon Is Now? onstage at the close of the NME Music Awards in London, 27 February 2013.

The same, from another angle.

Great to see quality rewarded.
Though it is hard to tell from these clips, I reckon the person at the sound board is
the same one who mixes Ronnie too low at Stones concerts. I like what Ron does, though.

Completely agree with that one.

I wonder how much they paid to get those awards,l mean be real, a band made up of 70+ years old men,the best live band for 2012???? If anyone deserved that award it should have been Bruce Springsteen and The E street band, they actually toured and played live, for months in 2012...

You can tour for a entire year and if its sucks then why get a award!
Really. Playing live is not just a marathon. Its all about quality.. I rather have 1 show
for 1 hour then a 3 hour snoozer repeated for 4 months....

Stones at any age can out shine anyone...They proved it again in 2012.

(they will prove it again in 2013.)

I saw both acts in 2012, and the Stones were light years better. I love Bruce too, so I'm not too biased here...

As much as I like and appreciate Bruce and the E-band. The difference is...the Stones were magic and Bruce was good!

I read this quote from Ronnie is a few of the articles here: "Mick, Keith and Charlie are backstage, but they're a bit scared to come out."

Were they in the audience at all watching the show? It seems odd that they would be backstage and there are no pictures of them, not even entering or leaving the place.

It was just a joke, to cover for the fact that he was the sole Rolling Stone on hand to accept awards on behalf of the band. If they had indeed been backstage, I could see Charlie wanting to avoid making an appearance, but Mick and Keith, they would bask in it like a bubble bath--if they had been there, of course.

Thanks stonehearted, I figured it out once I saw Ronnie's speech, those goofy Brits...

Of course it's a joke.
Apparently Mick, Keith and Charlie had higher priorities than to be at this award show,
whatever these may have been.

Ronnie had his speeches well prepared, I might add.
You gotta love this attitude of 'em.

Just saw this tweet from Mick:

"Great to win #NMEAwards for Best Live Act & Best Film! The last time we won an NME Award I threw my shoes into the crowd, can't wait to do that again!"

Mick has people to thumb those things out for him.
If Mick ever tweeted something himself it would probably look like this:
