About to start in a second. Looks like the last commercial before it is the Stones Super Bowl one!

I thought it was excellent and him in particular was great as always. Didn't think he had any shot of winning so this is a welcome surprise to me.

LOL. Well to be fair, the show is doing its hardest to save all the big awards for the end, so even though the show's been decent so far IMO, I understand switching the channel after a bit. Literally the only big ones they've done are Best Supporting Actor and Actress, and they didn't even do Actress till 10:30. The might as well have aired the 11:00 hour from 9-10 and would have gotten big ratings.

From what I saw, Donny Osmond did a great job of hosting.

That was Donny? I could have sworn it was Peter Brady.

I thought Donny played Peter... or was it the other way around?

Spielberg was robbed. Argo was like one of those movies from the 70s you see on the late show...good, but not The Godfather.
Who votes for this shyte now? Kids?

No way, Ang Lee certainly deserved to win.

Oh I guess you meant for best picture not director.

Not a great movie year, was it? Like the Stones films were better in the 70s...

The Obamas have been described as narcissistic. And Michelle announcing Best Picture didn't exactly counter that. (When has someone with absolutely no movie resume done that before?)

I'm so pissed at myself for not going to watch that. It was playing for weeks here and was apparently brilliant.

and you've got
The Rolling Stones

I think President Obama should have received the Oscar for best actor.

Agreed, that a freekin disgracefuldisasterbacle.

I hope SNL lays them to waste for that crap.... it would be a great skit, where she begs obby "Oh honey I wanna be in pictures, I wanna go to the Oscars, I know have never done a damned thing for the motion picture industry, and many other are far more deserving.... but I want face time when they hand out the biggest award... pleeeeeesee..... pleeeeseeee.... pleeeeeeessssseeee.... pleeeesee call someone and tell them to let me do it.

They might as well play it for the joke it was.

I thought the Captain Kirk skit at the beginning was funny but after that the show become a tiresome bore. Very few highlights after the beginning and after the show was over I realized I could have tuned in AFTER the scheduled end time and seen almost all the major awards. They need to pace the awards better than that.

Was great to see Daniel Day-Lewis become the first actor to win the Oscar for best Actor in a leading role three times. This is astonishing when you realize he has only made 12 movies since 1989. He is without a doubt the best modern day actor imo.

Problem is he's a horrible actor!

I love Ang Lee, one of my favorite, most original directors and I was fine with that one....
I just hated to see films by Lee, Spielberg get overshadowed by Argo. I like Argo, but i liked it because it reminded me of those capers of the 70s, like the Parallax View, Three Days of the Condor etc...good movies, but not epic.
Lee and Spielberg and Bigelow were at the top of their game this year...and got beat by the weakest film of the bunch.
Clooney, Argo producer and Affleck buddy, is the biggest schmoozer outside Harvey Weinstein..he may an even bigger schmoozer because he is so much more charming.
I would have been fine with Life of Pi winning BP...because it was cinematic and challenging, it had depth etc...
Argo is not in the same league as Lee or Spielberg.
