They actually named this winter storm "NEMO"? Really? When did they start doing that, naming snow storms? I thought they only named hurricanes/typhoons.

How odd that someone who posts something like that, on a relatively serious thread, would call anyone else troll.

When I posting in a thread and I am American and I am expressing concerns to the people involved and you say that, then it feels directed at me, and it will get a reply. On the other numerous times when I see your usual, consistantly snarky, snotty, negative remarks (from everything, but usually The Stones) I usually ignore them.

I don't know, I usually try to throw in at least some irony or dark humor into my posts. But Max, when I say Americans... I'm actually not talking directly at you. I know you may find this hard to believe, but there's other Americans in your country too. (there's also other countries in the world, but I don't want to fill your poor head up with that topic until after recess). So hey buddy, you can put your unregistered guns down there on that one, Tex. Uh.. Max.

Actually, I would guess that one would conclude that people from Toronto would be more offended by my post, since I did call out that city in particular. (I made no mention of any particular state, city, address or any individual... including you, Maxy).

The thing is though, people from Toronto wouldn't get all Up In Arm$ about it because, well, they have a sense of irony; its in their blood. They're Canadian too after all. winking smiley

I'm in central Massachusetts , " they " are telling us that we're supposed to get 16 - 24 inches of snow with some areas getting as much as 30 + inches because of drifting .

Fortunatly for my area it is cold so the snow is light and fluffy , easy to shovel . On the coast however it'll be heavy wet snow because of warmer temps and ocean air effect .

Here's a link to Hampton Beach NH web cam check it out for yourselves .

If you understood the english language better, you'd understand that "you Americans" implies all Americans, or at least all the Americans you are commenting to. After all your trolling here I would have thought you would have picked up on that by now. I guess that's a lot to expect from an electrified goat. Killed to many brain cells with the shock treatments?

Also, you can quit defending yourself. Anyone unfortunate enough to have read more than a few of your posts knows that this is exactly the response you were hoping for. I'm kind of surprised Max took your bait. As he mentioned, he's developed the ability to ignore the majority of your posts. Personally, when I see "Posted by: jamesfdouglas ()" at the top of a thread, I generally just see a blur below it as a scroll down looking for something worth reading. I only stumbled on this one when I read postings by people I enjoy and you happend to be involved.

Enjoy your postings my fellow North American... As more and more of us learn to ignore you, you're one of the few left here who actually cares about what you have to say.

Peace,
Mr DJA

I was in my freshman year at Berklee College of Music in Boston during the Blizzard of 78. When it finally stopped snowing, some buddies and I went walking over to another friend's house, up on these high drifts of snow.

I crossed over what seemed to be a little "bump" of snow, and when I looked down I saw a car antennae. I had just walked over a Volkswagen beetle.

! ! ! ! !

We had fun partying in the dorms until the power and heat went out, and suddenly it was not as much fun.

Thoughts and prayers to the folks up there right now. Our blizzard was "only" about 29 inches. The forecast for up to 40 inches is pretty sobering.

Forecasts are all over the place but I don't think that map is accurate. We won't get 20 inches in Northern NJ. Nevertheless there will be significant snowfall throughout the Northeast and especially up in New England so be prepared and stay safe.

This map is much more accurate and up to date ..

Nah! It's all good fun at that age...I remember when I was in Boston at school - we had a blast during winter storms! Of course - that's easy for me to say, my child is only 15 and safe & sound...my only worries are our house on the Cape - but it's only a house - no biggie! spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Only if the lights go out. And even then, my DVD player will still work by battery, as will my CD player--oops, the lights are blinking now as I type this, I'm in the Boston area. Well, I'd best get a beer out of the fridge and head for the DVD player.

Anyway, the sun will be shining again by Sunday....

As of right now, 8:30 am EST-- The town I live in here in Maine has received 31" of snow since last night and its still snowing and wind over 40 mph--total 'whiteout" conditions---Thank God we still have power--plenty of adult libations in the fridge and the stereo works so things not as grim as they could be....
trying to put together a good snowy playlist for today.........any suggestions ???

Good grief man, 31 inches of snow... blowing winds...
8-40 feet drifts I usually only see up in Colorado... good luck man...

I hope for hot sunny weather for you soon and make it all melt...
but is sounds like you are going to have to use the snow scoop.

As far as songs... lets go eclectic...
usually a rain song... but it applies here.

Some sunny music sounds

The sun will come out....

cuz foreign chicks singing is always awesome

and some Stones... of course

Think warm thoughts

We have about 30 inches here in the Worcester MA area. Its been a big storm. We will get through it though. I do not like the media coverage they are just crazy when it comes to this stuff. We've had big snows before and we'll have them again its New England. People just need to use their head's and not be foolish. If you are told to evacuate along the coast then listen and evacuate. There will be plenty of time to view it all after the storm clears out. Stay safe to all in the area. Gotta go fire up the snow blower!!!

Stay safe - Wish we could even out the weather between hemispheres, given that about a month ago I was complaining about a heat wave (which was not as bad). All I can do is send good vibes....... MB
