I only have B&B, so that's my favorite.

Goat's Head Soup was my first Stones album (I won it in a contest guessing the top 5 of the week!!) I played it once, then it didn't leave my turntable for ages. I wore out the grooves. Because of GHS, I went out and bought a lot of their back catalogue, and when IORR came out, I bought it the first day, and subsequently wore out the grooves on that one. So I guess I am not very objective, but I would have to say Goat's Head first (I still get chills to this day when I put it on in my car) and then IORR. Is IORR a great album? I thought it was at the time, and I still love it as well. If SF or B&B or Exile had been my first Stones LP, maybe I would have a different take.
So Goat's Head will always be magic for me, and I imagine that if I live to be 100, I will still get goosebumps listening to it. (That is, if my brain still works, my hearing isn't gone and I am not just drooling in my soup all day waiting to die...)

Three very strong and underated albums in my ever humble opinion. Of the three GHS is my favorite.

Goats Head Soup by a long shot, them IORR, and then running in a distant third Black and Blue

i can't just pick one, i know, lame! but each one reminds me of a certain time period so it's really depending on the time of year that i'll listen to the album.

GHS by miles. When I return to the Stones after a hiatus, that's almost always where I start. IORR just sounds muddy to me. I do like B+B though. Perfect sound.

Surprised by the landslide love for GHS. I'd put it 3rd. Seems to have the least energy of the three. But I do love em all.

Goats, by far. Its druggy, mellow and voodooish feel + some of Mick Taylor's best playing on record does it for me.

1. Black And Blue:

A perfect showcase on how to present the broadest specter of black music they've ever managed, on only 8 songs.

2. IORR:

I like a lot of the songs on IORR, including one of my favorites, If You Can't Rock Me. However, the song writing is a bit uneven, and the mix and the production is remarkably weak.

3. GHS:

A good album, by all means, with Angie, Coming Down Again and Heartbreaker as the strongest tracks. On some of the songs, the playing is very good, but the songs aren't (Silver Train, Hide Your Love, Dancing With Mr. D.)

Really? I think the mix is quite good on IORR. It's an improvement over Goats Head soup, but not yet at the level of Black N Blue. I'm just talking mix-wise, not the over all quality of the albums.

GHS is fantastic.

IORR brilliant.
