Best 69 shows/boots?

I love GYYYO, it's my favorite live album of all time and my favorite Stones-record next to Sticky Fingers and Let It Bleed. A lot of fans favor the 72 US and the 73 Europe tour but I prefer the sound on GYYYO. Midnight Rambler has never sounded so good and SFTD is one of the best things they ever recorded live. Even Satisfaction outshines the studio version with its extended groove. Mick Taylor on fire!

I can't believe how great this is! But this is, along with Altamont, the only thing I've heard from the 1969 US tour. Was the MSG show really the best on this tour or are there some wonderful lost gems that I need to hear asap? It has to be in audible soundboard quality.

Detroit is great but the tape is so-so.
The 1st MSG is great and was nicely recorded.
The last MSG show is unbelievable but the tape is so-so.

But some of Ya Yas is from Baltimore, correct? Do tapes exist from that show?

LIV on Ya Ya's is from Baltimore.

This is SFTD from Baltimore. Imagine it in soundboard, though it has a pretty good sound quality.

Most of the vocals on Ya-Ya's were from... the studio.
A true-live album, Ya-Ya's is not.

Taylor sounds great on Satisfaction here.

Taylor sounds great on Satisfaction here.

There are two recorded versions of this show: "Cocaine.." and "Crossfire...." Both are very listenable and each has different strengths. I would be very interested in hearing a matrix of these two recordings. There are some fun comments by Jagger. He was mostly charming on this tour. And this particular night featured a strong performance by Keith. This was when the music and rhythms were pouring out of every joint of his body. I wouldn't be too fussy about recording from this historic tour. Inglewood, Oakland, San Diego, Detroit, Baltimore, NYC the 27th, the Boston shows, Altamont all document a band in transition and it all happens right before your ears.

Here is a thread where someone had listed the best boot for each of the 1969 shows:

Thanks, Kleermaker, for posting. I never heard this fantastic version. This is the best version I ever heard from the 69 tour. A soundboard release in the Archive is a must be.

But both perfs are very weak when compared to the late November shows...
imo the 1st MSG is the best compromise between sound quality and performance.

Taylor's solo on SFTD did not get scripted in until later in the tour, possibly at Detroit. That alone gives the nod to the later shows. I think the lovely UMT got even better as the tour went along. Then there is that sweet little solo Taylor plays during I'm Free on the 27th. There is a Carol in Boston that is terrific albeit marred by some feedback. Someone said Keith no longer "drives" the songs. Well, he did in '69 and more. Any Keith fan needs to visit and revisit this tour. You get a delicious glimpse of him in that all too brief LQ clip. The best recordings are mentioned. Asking for a soundboard from '69 is almost an anachronism. That this tour is preserved as well as it is is amazing. Kudos to the tapers!

The 69 tour - particularly the later dates - shows the Stones at the top of their game.It all came together - ready new Stones with young Taylor and a great time for Rock music in general . .
