it hurts my head to disect their music so much. I like the sound of the band and the groove they can get going. If im not in the mood for a particular song, I skip it.

We're not "dicecting" it, we're just trying to put into words why we loathe it (or love it) so much. Of course I skip ABB completely, just like you.....if I didn't; my posts here concerning that album would be much more negative.

Perhaps you are diceting it while others are disecting it.

and even others are dissecting it.

I think if we consider the following:

parts of Steel Wheels were good, but Voodoo Lounge was better.

Bridges was excellent, and so too Bigger Bang. Sweet Neocon is awful, and I always maintain Streets of Love to be a Diane Warren pastiche, maybe I'm deluded, in much the same way as Far Away Eyes was a pastiche.

Far Away Eyes was good pastiche.

No ! Bridges is better, but only just.

I can listen to everything on both, bar NeoCon.

Personally, I like well "Dirty Works", album going to be that of Keith... But ABB is an album that has the punch, even if some titles are a little "filling".

Chill out man! It's a good misspelling - it creates imagery that one otherwise wouldn't consider. I know the difference between theys and them and theirs and mines.

Nothing is as bad as Dirty Work. NOTHING. That the Stones did anyway.

Just deal with it and accept the truth - A Dirty Works is horrible where as A Biggest Bangs is not so bad when compared to Dirty Workers. A Bigger Bangers is a GRRRRzillion times better than The Dirty Workers.

There will always be the stray that thinks Dirty Wonks is a good album but that is what gives society its contrast. A few loose cuckoos running around makes a farm.

Treacle - Have your coffee. Both albums weren't great - I'm sure Dirty Work has been discussed here to death. Not that I want to kill anyone's fun of course!

okay, it's time to get serious here. there is no defense for dirty work. there's a principle at play here - we must rid the site of anyone claiming it to be anything but a pile of stinky trash - whether the claim is in jest or not.

talkcheap seems like a nice enough sort in general, but if he is serious about this, then i suggest something went seriouly awry during his childhood. perhaps an incident during toilet training? just speculating, of course...i have no inside info on this.

I remember how I felt when I got Dirty Work - very concerned. It took me a few days to find the nerve to even pull the album out - the cover was beyond horrible. "That is an album by The Rolling Stones?" my dad asked me, "The same band that did this?" and he pulled out Let It Bleed. "You sure it's not Wham?" he added.

Good thing records aren't books because Dirty Work is one album one can judge by its cover. There's a reason only Harlem Shuffle has appeared on the hits albums - it's the only song on the LP that's worth bothering to listen to. Even on the 5 disc edition of GRRR! they made Harlem Shuffle the only Dirty Work track.

Of course, the same people put Streets Of Love on all versions as well...

bob & earl were delighted they included harlem shuffle...until they heard the other songs it went with....i believe the lawsuit is still pending final disposition...

That's not nice of you to keep pointing out that that wasn't nice. What if it originally had nothing to do with 'nice'? Jumping to conclusions that don't exist? That's not very nice. In fact, I don't like it. Not one bit. Not one bit at all.

That's just not nice.

After reading the messages that my speculation about Dirty Work has given, I'm now going to start and listen to Undercover Of the Night instead!

ABB is a wonderful album. As a testimony, it could have been worse. There are some true jewels in it.
