First I saw was 78, then Steel Wheels whenever that was, BB and 2012 in Brooklyn but I know deep down the last really great tour was 1973....

No security for me. 50 & Counting was a buzz for sure. 98/99 Keith was ON it.

If by "great" you mean the last tour that mattered, 1978.

I would have said 72-73, but having now seen Some Girls Texas. I'd say 78. After that, the dominance of stadium shows makes all of the tours a little less than "great".

Voodoo Lounge!!!

I didn't like B2B as much, but No Security was a great rebound... loved it. I'll stick with VL though as my answer because Ronnie was still a force then and wasn't on No Security. Going to smaller venues for the first time in a long time really allowed the Stones to bounce back on No Security.

So I would argue that from a purist perspective 81 was the last traditional tour.

Sorry, but then it has to be 1982 because they did not change asically between the USA and the Europe leg of that tour.

It's clear that some people were not at the earlier tours and making judgments about quality based on bootlegs and videos.

Despite superior quality on Vegas-era boots and videos I prefer the 60s and 70s. The lousy sounding boots from the 70s cannot hide the greatness.

I go with Voodoo because the band was playing really good, no slacking by Richards and/ or Wood. (Wood was zoned out during B2B....Richards even before the tree was hit/miss during ABcool smiley Voodoo also had 26/27 songs per show with really good setlists

I still prefer the 1981 and previous setup of the band and just Stu....but that was 30 years ago

On every Stones tour, the gigs i have seen varied from "very good" to "fantastic" and the vast majority of them was close to the highest levels of the "scale". So, every Stones tour was great, to me. Consequently, the least great Stones tour was 2012 "small" tour...
