But that's what makes it great, and makes the Beatles cover too slick. It's like the difference between the Beatles 'I Wanna Be Your Man' and the Stones take on it. You get the feeling in those early Stones cuts like they're recording it in some tiny shit hole and they've only got five minutes of studio time to cut it. Punk before punk even knew what punk was.

I believe John Lee Hooker began performing "i need some money" before Gordy came up with his recording. In fact Hooker instigated a court case against Gordy for plagarism. Hooker lost the case.
