The Stones are a great visual live group and i would always rather see them do a performance type video even if they are miming. The seventies/ early eighties videos (or promo films) were fine because they were more basic (Miss You, Respectable, Emotional Rescue, Start me up etc) and i thought Waiting On A Friend was one really great non performance video.
I remember Undercover Of The Night causing a storm over it's violent political content and She Was Hot for it's fun sexual content. While not my favourite i think these videos portrayed the songs effectively enough.
It's really the later more elaborate videos that leave me cold - those that are made with MTV clearly in mind. Rock And A Hard Place is abou the worst of the lot - it really is horrible.
