I saw Cream on their "Farewell Tour" in '68, and I'd like to see them again, but I don't see how they can pull it off. What made them a great band wasn't necessarily their songwriting, but their incredible shows. Back then, either Clapton or Bruce said that they didn't play WITH each other, but AGAINST each other. Their extended jams and improvisations were unique and compelling then, but I wonder, can they really put forth the creativity and energy that defined their shows 37 years ago? Few people are going to want to hear 10-15 minute guitar or drum solos. Without that element I think their shows would be fairly dull. Unless, of course, they reinvent themselves to be something they never were in order to appeal to today's audience. I would imagine that most of the people who would go see them would be my age and would want to see and hear the Cream of the '60's.

Having seen Clapton last summer at the end of his tour, I thought he put on a good show, but he looked very tired, like he just wanted to finish and go home. So, I just can't imaging what sort of energy he'll need to do a Cream tour.

Having said that. . . .I'd still probably go see them!!

Is it really billed as "Cream featuring Eric Clapton" ? If so what a insult to the other members!

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

The Online Ticket Shop the gigs will be 3,4,6,7 may 2005 in Royal Albert Hall - and it says "Cream featuring Eric Clapton".
By the way I never pay the price Online Ticket Shop wants: £195 for the cheapest ticket.
