I figured it has some kind of cryptic meaning, or something.

Exactly. If you think of the Crowes as Hard to Handle, etc., you are missing what they are now. These guys grew up in the south, listening to great rock bands like the Stones but also back country music like Manassas. When they hit their early 20's in the 1990 Guns and Roses era and had a couple hits, they were trying to be a hard rock band. Now that they are a little older, they are playing music they liked and grew up on. Their last album, Before the Frost, and recent tours have been very "Exile on Main Street". They are playing country/blues/rock music. They play covers by bands they loved, like the Dead, Stones, The Band, Velvet Underground, etc. Before the Frost is like their Exile on Main Street. Its not full of known hits, but it has that back country sound, they are playing great music, and are on top of their game. Forget about their radio hits. I know the kind of music many people on this board like and if you have not bothered with the Crowes in recent years, you are really missing out. I am curious, and to some degree concerned, how they will be with Jackie Greene replacing Luther Dickinson because the Crowes of recent years, with Luther, were by far the best version the band has ever put together.

I found Winslow contained too many flatbed fords for my personal taste...but I did briefly stand on a corner. Just to say I did.

Congrats! I lost track of time and by the time I checked on tickets for the Nashville shows, they were already sold out. Damn... Was hoping that my wife, daughter & I could catch them on 4/21 even though it's being billed as "An Accoustic Show w/ Special Guests"... I figure in Nashville, recovering from 4/20, a Crowes Accoustic Show in The Ryman could be pretty special. I even went so far as to check on the 4/20 show that I can't make due to my own band's gig in Knoxville... Not an option either... Hopefully they will add more shows and come back to Knoxville on a date that I'm not gigging.
On a side note: For those of you who are afraid to see them due to the "lack of warhorses" in their set: We took our 15 year old daughter to see them a couple of years ago. She's into hip-hop & rap music but has a pretty open ear for other styles of music. After the show, although she only recognized two songs they played that night, she said something to the effect of "It really doesn't matter if you know the songs when the band's THAT good!" And that from one of the most opionated teenagers you'll ever meet.

Saying the Crowes are just Stones-Faces copy cats just shows that one hasn´t listened to the Crowes output since 1992. Since then they moved on. Listen to Before The Frost... and the Allman Bros. and The Band come to mind immediately. Great stuff, really worth a spin.
With Jacky on board they might try another angle, which I´m really looking forward to.
