cool. well, they shouldve brought her back for all these shows then & given gaga another song to sing.

It was refreshing to see and hear Lisa Thrs night. Her version and the entire song was soooo much better Than Lady Ga.

I thought to myself on Sat. that it was the worst version of Gimme Shelter that I have ever heard. The song lacked its sheer power and energy and all that spookiness that is supposed to have. It just didn't fit.

At one point I thought Keith was going to smack her with his guitar.

My vote goes to Lisa.

I think some are missing the point of the song which is very bleak and it's a Blues/R&B/Gospel song and the original female singer was obviously chosen to deliver in a Blues/R&B/Gospel style.

Are Lady Gaga and Florence really Blues/R&B/Gospel singers?

I think these current Gimme Shelter live versions have a bit of Vegas about them, all show and not much go, except for a bit of Keith and Mick.

I haven't seen all the performances, but may I add that I am pleasantly surprised by
what I've seen?
I could never have imagined what would happen with these guest female singers on stage,
some of whom I've never ever seen performing before.
I would have thought no one would ever be able to lift Gimme Shelter up to the levels
of the original, or even the Paradiso version with the great Lisa.

But I was proven wrong by the performances of both Florence Welch and Lady Gaga.
They both paid hommage to the song writers by bringing this effort to the stage.

I love these ladies for doing so. Thank you, ladies and thank you Rolling Stones.

Lisa's performance on GS in Brooklyn just wasn't up to par, imo. Normally, she's great, though.

Ga Ga was a Gas Gas.I loved her eccentricity and quirkyness,the Zebra outfit was surreal,and the fact that she even tried to up stage Mick was a hoot.Ga Ga is a genius without a doubt.
But overall I think the chemistry between Mick and Florence was over powering.

So my vote: Florence,Ga Ga,

Merry Clayton. You can't dispute that. For sheer looks and sexiness though: Lisa in the 90s. She could make a dead man come...

If only the quality of the singing and the voice counts (and for me these are the most important categorys): Lisa by far

Flo. Amazing energy and totally irreverential. She took the song right to Mick, invaded his space and comfort zone and really put him on the back foot for a while. Don't think anyone had ever done that to him before.

This time she did it differently, and not as good as in the 90s.

Lisa. Gaga was too distracting even though her vocals were a little better than Mary J. Blige, who completely destroyed the song in Brooklyn with her shouting in all the wrong places. Florence seemed to be OK, just watched the video once after the London show but don't feel the need to watch it again.
