One of the best SNLs in years IMO, and not just because of Macca.

Oh, No! Does this mean the Stones have failed to surge ahead of the Beatles?

I'm a huge Beatles fan, and a huge Nirvana fan, so I loved this collaboration, and that song last night was great. Not as great as seeing MT on MR though, in my opinion. Plus, Paul kind of lost momentum with that corny Christmas song he did.

Just one more great album, tatters, just one more great album! We drew even last night! What a night! Took a long time but we finally got there. You know I love them both, but it's time to give the Stones their due. What they have done over these last five shows is nothing short of miraculous.

Yeah, I haven't read it. I doubt I'll find it that interesting, I've never really taken part in the Beatles vs Stones thing. I listen to both. I'd listen to more Paul/Nirvana if they decide to continue or record.

I love them both. I do get off on the whole Beatles vs Stones thing though, but it's all in good fun. Makes for some lively debates around the fireplace.

The thing I appreciated most about McCartney's performance? It didn't cost me $40! Thanks, Paul!

I keep watching SNL... and it usually always sucks.... but I keep hoping... and last night they rang the bell, it was good episode. Of course there are always lame skits, and that weekend update guy has got to go..... but other things last night with Martin Short had me laughing several times.... and I was thrilled to see McCartney and the Nirvana guys jamming again..... it is raw, I would love to see them do more... and I have never really been a Nirvana or McCartney fan (much anyway)..... and the skit with Martin and Paul, where Martin sang and Paul (almost) played triangle was funny as heck... then they expoloded back drop and Paul did his Christmas song... it as all a great way to end a great night of music.

From HR
"Like fellow rock legend Mick Jagger back in May, McCartney closed the show with a sketch that morphed into a full-on performance. After playing Short’s much-abused musical partner (a poor sap relegated to playing the triangle), McCartney took the stage with “Wonderful Christmas Time.” The New York Children’s Chorus joined him for the song."

Jagger's SNL appearance didn't cost anything either. Comparing the money an SNL appearance costs with an enormous PPV event is kind of silly.

Interesting that (right during this 50th anniversary year for the Stones) the Beatles appeared on the cover of so many magazine publications. It seemed over the top to me, but maybe it was just coincidental? Lots of commemorative issues featuring Lennon and McCartney also. McCartney did turn 70 this year so that one was understandable. Also if memory serves me correctly didn't Sean and Yoko show up on David Letterman about the same time some major Stones media event was taking place last summer? Wasn't it around the 50th Birthday? I think it may have been on the very day of some major Stones media event? All purely coincidental I suppose? Or not.

I think the author of the article has too much time on his hands and should try writing about something interesting instead.

I remember when Larry King interviewed Mick Jagger a couple of years ago during the release of Exile. Instead of just focusing on Mick and the Stones he included some clips of an interview he did with Paul, Ringo, Yoko, and George's wife years ago. I thought that was strange that he included a segment on the Beatles in that show. Obviously, he, or someone pulling his strings, made that decision to balance the show out with a segment on the Beatles. I say that to point out that there is real substance (although few would admit to it) to this age old debate.

The surging past the Beatles will take place once they have produced one last great album. They still have some work ahead of them. Of course you don't want to take all of this too seriously, after all it's only................................

swiss, just curious were you offended by the PPV advertisement promoting last night's show that hailed the Stones as the greatest rock 'n roll band of all time?
