The Fallen Angels - Waiting On A Friend

Ladies and Gentlemen,

the long awaited new recording of the Danish/Austrian newcomers is finally recoreded and mixed. The two young men are were generously given some webspace on the website of Jean-Pascal - the songs can now be found on: [www.rockpassion.com]

The lineup of the band is still the same, Kent is featured on electric guitar and lead vocals, bandmate Lorenz helps him out on vocals and plays acoustic guitar.
Compared to their first song, Dead Flowers, we can see a major improvement - their new song is a fabulous rendition of the Stones classic that lets even the masters themselves look pale.
Kent's smokey vocals perfectly fit with Lorenz' soulfoul strumming and we sure can expect some great work of this young band in the near future!
Rumours have it that Chuck Leavell played keyboards on the song, but whoever did the mixing, his part was completely erased...
Give the song a listen, you won't regret it!

P.S. The Fallen Angels are currently looking for additional musicians!

Yeah. That'd be great. But you would have to be drunk to like it I think.

You guys sound just like the Stones in 1981!

Thanks, Potted Shrimb, that's the most flattering thing you can possibly say!

No, I was opening the song, and there was a version of Waiting on a Friend from the Stones from a 1981 gig playing. For real...........

Marc, check your ears! It's nice what those guys do, but it is not the stones. Not even Flip The Switch can sound like them.

Well, I liked the second part of the song best. Vocals could be a bit better IMHO. But that probably because you recorded both vocal parts seperate. I'm still waiting for time waits for no one with an extensive solo!

Joram, I know. But the first version up here was the Stones! (help me out here KeithRichards)

Look, Lorenz is a good mate, and keeps harmony in the band and all that, but really these guys are nothing close to their heyday with Mick Taylor........

:-)

So What? They seem to be enjoying the music of the Stones, just like me!

Yo guys, just taking a little pee there on the old Wood/Taylor (Lorenz/Taylor) argument!

Actually I'm enjoying the tunes immensely!

Joram, Marc is right - I posted the wrong link at first that, so some people indeed downloaded the Stones version instead of our version.
By the way, yeah, the vocals are the weak point of the song. Kent is a good singer, but I'm just awful on vocals (but I want to hear me on the songs too :-))

KSIE - I'm trying my best to keep the band together, but it's difficult - Kent wants to start a solo career ;-)

Hello Guys!

Well here's my review.

Waiting on a Friend.

Yep I liked it! Nice mix, guitars are not too loud. Nice pickin' for the solo parts. I like the mood - it's very laid back. I think there's 3 guitars in there, so good mixing.

Vocals - I've heard worse, a lot worse. Your English diction is very good Kent!
You're singing is nearly there for the song!

Backing vocals are really hard to do Lorenz.I reckon you could do them, but it takes a lot of practice. You have to listen only to the harmony on the record to get the right notes.

Dead Flowers

I'm listening to this as I type. Vocals need to be louder - but they work.
The lead guitar parts are from the D chord on 5th fret (1st 2nd 3rd and 4th strings mainly) - it's a blues scale.

The speed is about right. It's laid back again - that's a good thing.

We (Stikkyfingers) play this song and it always goes down well!

Stick at it guys - if you had heard us 25 years ago you would have said we would never be any good - lots of people think we are good now (thank God!).

Regards,

Ian.

Wow Kent and Lorenz. I'm speechless. Mathijs also seems too quiet. I think he knows that Flip the Switch now has some major competition in Europe. Actually I sure hope that both of you Fallen Angels continue with your education and get good jobs far away from the music business. :-)

Can you guys do a cover of Gomper? OK, just kidding.

Great fun and keep at it.

Far away in October.

OT: I just realized that Jagger's first solo album was released 20 years ago. Time does pass.

Back on Topic: You guys should release a "Greatest Hit" CD. Or maybe do a live version of Dead Flowers, using Apple's GarageBand.

Take Care

Just a small update: I just finished recording & mixing the guitars for "Brown Sugar"
I'll send it to Kent, so he can do the vocals. If that works the song will be available for download tomorrow, I think!
