If you could go for a pint with one of the boys (past or present) which one would you choose and why?

Really, any of them. Mick Jagger because he's a friggen medical marvel and would just be great to be around. He seems like he's nice and also very outgoing. Keith is just all natural, and you'll get amazing stories. Also he's a hoot and he'd probably answer anything. Mick Taylor because he's an amazing guitarist (although he might be boring). Ronnie would be alot of fun and probably game for anything. Bill and Charlie would probably be more subdued, but no less incredible to be around.

I'd probably choose Mick Jagger, but thats a really hard toss up between him, Keith and Taylor IMO.

I met Keith and Charlie.

It was at the bottom line in NYC and Charlie was doing his Charlie Parker tribute in July of 1992. We had tickets for the early show. So as luck would have it we were seated one table away from a table that had "reserved" on it.

So before the show started we walked upstairs to where they sold the posters and and where the bathrooms and dressing rooms were. Out of the corner of my eye I see Charlie and he's having a conversation with some guy in the doorway of the dressing room. So my friend and I each buy a Charlie poster and walk over and go over and approach Charlie and say the usual "Excuse me Charlie, would you mind singing this?". He was real nice and signed the posters.

My friend had an artical from the New York Post about Charlie which was a review from a previous show. The artical had a picture of Charlie and said "Gaunt and Grey". Charlie saw the title and put on a funny face for comical effect and said "Gaunt and grey that me" and some people in dressing room started laughing with him. My friend told him he got a good review and he asked if he could keep the artical and of course my friend said yes. He then asked us if we were going to the premiere of Bernard Fowlers new movie. We looked at each other and said "Bernard is in a movie". He then made another comical face and said to us "Don't be rediculos....Bernard Fowler in a movie" this time he was laughing. It must have been an inside joke because all the people in the dressing room were laughing as well.

So we go downstairs with our newly signed Charlie posters and sit down. It was like we hit oil, life was good again!!! A few minutes later, in walks Keith, Waddy Wachtel, Keiths Dad Bert and another guy and sit a few feet away from us the "reserved' table. They walked in a few minutes before the show started but my friend walked right over and got Keith to sign his Charlie poster.

So the show ends and the place clears out but Keith, Waddy, Bert and the other guy stayed there. So I appraoched Keith and asked him to sign my poster and he did.As Beggars Banquet subscribers we knew he was working on his next still yet untitled Solo album (Main Offender) So we asked him when it was coming out. He told us he was not exactly sure. So after we askedthat about five other people who had nothing to say to Keith asked him the same question and at one point Keith anwsered "When its ready!"

That very meeting at the Blue Note is in Beggars Banquet summer 1992 edition. Bill German wrote "When some fans approaced Keith after the Charlie show and asked when his new album is coming out he gave them the perverbiel 'When it ready". So Bill if your reading this I guess I've outed my self and you know who.....lol

Back then we wondered how the hell could Bill German knew what we said to Keith. It wasen't until years later that we found out that Keith had told him.

Well Mick or Keith. Either one would be an interesting conversation.

Charlie, because I think he's the most least likely to bullshit you on anything.

You might have to drag everything out of him, but I believe he would be the most straight up.

Brian Jones. It would have been fun to discuss instruments and sounds with him.

But since he isn't here anymore I vote for Charlie. He seems like an interesting guy. I've already met Bill a few years ago and had a nice talk with him about music.

Keith. Not only is he my favorite Stone, but he seems like he would be the most personable. Mick and Charlie seem like they could be either hot or cold (though with Charlie it's more likely cold, not to be mean, he's just not all that talkative) depending on how you catch them. Keith and Ronnie seem like they would be friendly/cool, but I'd rather meet Keith.

Plus, I don't think Mick or Charlie would like me all that much. And being a guitar player I would have more common ground with Keith or Ronnie. I could pick their brains (or Mick T for that matter) for hours just talking shop about guitars without having to talk Stones. Whereas with Mick or Charlie I would be like "So... Let It Bleed huh? That must have been cool". Mick sort of acts like he's seen/heard it all (which he has) and no question/discussion really provoke that much interest or conversational effort. Keith fields every question like it's the first time somebody has asked it, which given his past abuse, he might not remember and in his mind is being asked for the first time.

(also my answer to favorite band, that is, favorite reggae/dancehall/dance/pop/r&b/
hiphop/rock band. guitarist nuno bettancourt rules.)

(also my answer to "who does 7 free concerts in 7 days with just 4 musicians and
two backup singers?" no costume changes. shows even have a stripped acoustic
segment)

(also my answer to "favorite bra" )

(also my answer to every other suck-ass IORR thread)

Not sure I would want to meet any of them.

Mick Jagger - great performer but he's a phony and couldn't imagine having a sincere conversation with him on any subject. Any attempts would be more of a waste of my time than his.

Keith & Ronnie - self centered substance abusing @#$%&. I know enough people like that with no talent and they are completely annoying to be around.

Charlie Watts - I don't know enough about jazz and don't think he would be interested in talking to me about anything.

Maybe Mick Taylor so I can ask stupid questions like what was it like opening for Black Sabbath. Or Matt Clifford so I could ask about composing the score to Return Of The Living Dead.

that's easy for them to say - let's see them prove it with something tangible.
