Isn't 50 a perfect number to end on?
Posted by: Stoneage ()

A last bow to the audience. A last homage to former bandmembers. Is there really a need for a new album and a new tour? What more do they have to prove? What do you think?

If something is perfect you don't want it to end.

What Salty said. If you love the Stones, why do you want them to end?

This is 2012, the Buck Rogers era of medical science. Medical science seems to have taken the stones back to roughly their mid 90s health and skill level. At this rate in 5 to ten years they should be back at steel wheels level minus the vegas, or ideally back to 1986 Dirty Work level health so they can finally tour behind the dirty work album around 2018/2019 or so.

Couldn't agree more GL. Sounds like you had a blast last night, wish I was there. Hope they make it to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. on the (I hope) 2013 tour and bring Wyman and Taylor along!

i think the band should keep playing till every member is 100.

theres the challenge.

it could also be a challenge for their audience and fans to stay alive and see them do it.

I hope this is not the final bang but I think it is.

But, they will do solo stuff after this so at least we have that.

I think Keith will do a Wino's album, Mick 2 or 3 more solo albums, etc...

IMO, The Black Crowes were the only ones ready to be passed and carry the torch but love got in the way w/ Chris and they lost it.

So, there is no one left to be handed the torch, yet.

Sad X3.

The reason I bring this up is that I think they have stagnated as a live band since long ago. They don't bring anything new to the songs. The warhorses are simply boring and their take on more rare numbers aren't convincing. Sir Michael seems to have a cronic cold. His voice is simply not enjoyable to listen to. It's like SAL all over again. It used to be exciting going to a Stones concert or listen to a new album - I can't say that it is anymore. By now it's all nostalgia, nothing else. Why not call it a day?

cuz I have no more money to spend on them? That seems a reasonable response.

If they like performing and recording, and people still enjoy listening and watching, why stop? To do what? Sit around and count your money.

Why on earth would they possibly want to end it all now, particularly in the light of their magnificent shows in London this week.

They barely, but legitimately, made it to 45. But this re-animated version of
Keith, dragging the beat and staring at his fretting fingers, is more than a
little bit creepy. Subtract the choirs and hardworking divas and guest guitarists
who can still play, and it would all be quite tragic.

Then again, put a guest guitarist and guest vocalist on every song, and no reason
the Rolling Stones couldn't do five shows a year in perpetuity.

wow rev...I didn't think you'd be one for sour grapes. you were wrong, big deal, half the board didn't think they, especially Keith, had anything left. The clips sound great, the band sounds great, mick sounds great. Pour yourself a glass of koolaid and set awhile.
