So it'll be God for the Blues Pee Break slot on Thursday?

I love Jeff Beck. I love the Stones. That doesn't make them a good match. I really didn't understand that either.

On Beck playing loud...I seem to remember during the ARMS concerts someone turning down all his amps except the one facing him so he didn't notice. smoking smiley

The way things are going I feel as though I am the only person who hasn't done a guest appearance with the Stones.

At least Eric is a legend but am I the only person who read this and said to myself "Florence who?"

I can picture millions of people typing "Florence Welch" into google as we speak.

I suppose it is a good career move for her but I don't remember many Stones fans on these message boards saying stuff like "The only problem with Sundays concert was that Florence Welch wasn't there".

THis is a much better 'match' for the Stones in several ways. Clapton, whilst another virtuoso guitarist isn't all about playing loud and zipping around the fretboard fro the sheer sake of it. He has a better feel for a song than Beck ever will have. He could play on any song, but I would guess they won't wait for Brown Sugar - the one recording he plays on (albeit a bootleg) rather, as with Beck, they will stick him on earlish possibly a blues number although I'd take a wild guess at All Down The Line.

Florence will be an interesting one. She has a great voice and could be a whole new approach to Gimme Shelter, of course they could use her on something else and shock us all.

All in all, two better guests than Sunday in my opinion. Looking forward to hearing the reviews on this. Those of you going - enjoy!

Folks, we can do far worse. For me, Clapton on "... Rooster" back in '89 was a thrill,
though I'm a purist and would prefer Wood's licks. BUT ... to invite A$$hole Rose
and Idiot Straddlin'? C'monnn!

They'll probably have her do Honky Tonk Woman. Mick will be able to loosen her up [hopefully].

Clapton will be more fun than Beck, and he might even do a Stones Song.
I like Beck, a lot, but I agree, the song choice for him should have fit more into the stones mold. They've given Clapton the right songs in the past, let's look forward to another one. I particularly like LRR from (I believe off the top of my head) Flashpoint.
I don't know anything aboutF Welch, but hoping for the best!

Clapton on a blues song is predictable as hell. Clapton on "All Down The Line" or "Jumpin Jack Flash" would be fun. Would they do that? Never.

Should they?

Beck got to do one of his own, why can't Clapton do Layla?

Guess I was wrong. I just didn't see Clapton doing these shows.

I'm not sure the Stones need guests though - whether it's Clapton, Beck or Timberlake.

Be nice to Keep Taylor and Wyman around.

I wonder if the 1st nights guests were Jagger selected and the 2nd night were selected by Keith?

I agree. What was worst was Amy Winhouse.

Clapton is GOD and worthy choice, he was part the 1960's London rnb scene and part of the Stones circle.
