Just a thought, giving as they're using different singers for each show. Tina Turner might be another contender

Some of the Stones do their best to look young and they want young things on stage too or in the front rows like on Shine a Light and not the average Stones fan with gray hair -- and back hair. LOL!

Any female singer singing Gimme Shelter is completely tedious unless she has the vocal capability to reproduce the primal scream featured in the original recording as the word "murder" was sung. Period. That scream was/is absolutely integral to that song.

All versions of Gimme shelter not featuring that scream are like listening to David Lee Roth try to sing "Atomic Punk" in 2012 and omitting 100% of the screams integral to that song because he's incapable of doing them anymore, yet still attempting to sell it as if it rocks.

Of course, the majority of songs are open to some variance and interpretation. Yet by the same token, some songs simply have certain requirements that must be fulfilled in their performance.

For once I can agree with an Arthritis post.

Merry Clayton was the vocalist with that "primal screan" which created an intense aura for Gimme Shelter, one of THE great songs in rock.

Perhaps the Stones and Merry will meet up for one of the Los Angeles shows.

She probably wants a million dollars a verse.

Merry is not a greedy woman and she has sung on many hit records.

You know who could hit that "murder" scream - Adele - the power & fullness in her voice that she has on the high notes in "Rolling in The Deep", she could blitz them...

Well said and I agree, probably why DLR stayed away from that one too. lol
