Saw it tonight. SFTD was also featured prominently. Good film, except it sort of turned into an AA commercial at the end.

Am I the only person who thinks this way, but isn't Gimme Shelter being overly used in too many movies? It is a great song, but too much is too much. The Stones have recorded something like 400 songs or maybe more.So why not use other songs?
If a director is going for a mysterious and druggy feel, why not go for something like It Must be Hell, Soul Survivor, or Stray Cat Blues.
Gimme Shelter is a cliche.

Agreed with NoCode. Although when I heard it in the movie, I still got a kick out of it and smiled even though after the trailer I knew it would be in there.
Want to talk about using a deep cut. I almost started applauding when Argo used Little T&A for a second in the film! Nice job Affleck!
I noticed that also. But still thought it was cool that they used it, and maybe makes it even cooler that they really wanted to use it even though it was the wrong time period. Possibly it was one of their favorites and figured they could use it and get away with it.Quote

Although, if the object was to use music from the time of the events outlined in Argo (as the other popular songs in the movie were) they failed with Little T&A, which wasn't released until August of 1981, long after the events upon which the movie is based took place.

Most people won't notice. Outside of the Stones fan community I doubt anybody really noticed or cared it was a couple years off. A film can be nitpicked to death by one segment of the population or another, but in general people will just take it for what it is. I noticed on that show "Justified" there were several comments on IMDb by Kentucky residents about how it clearly looked nothing like Kentucky, and what an oversight it was for the show's makers to film in a location that was clearly not Kentucky. But for people like me, and everybody else who doesn't live in Kentucky it's not really an issue. If they tell us it's Kentucky, then it's Kentucky. It's not accurate, but not that important either. The makers of Goldfinger didn't worry about portraying an accurate Fort Knox to cater to the select few who had actually been inside and actually know what it looks like. I doubt Affleck was really concerned with what the people who actually knew Tattoo You was released in '81 would say, it was a song he probably liked, felt would fit in, so he used it.
