Caption: Nightstage, which closed in the early 90s, stands empty on Main Street in April 2001.
I used to walk by that building all the time, for years, but never caught a show there. The building remained closed and unused, a ghost in the neighborhood, for many years until it was finally torn down a few years ago.
Here's a clip featuring Luther "Guitar Jr." Johnson and Pinetop Perkins to give an idea of what it was like inside the club. Apparently it was mainly a [250-seat] jazz club, but also hosted its share of blues gigs as well, including Mick Taylor.
Now, townhouse condominiums stand at the 823 Main Street address that was once Nightstage.
