The most underrated hit in the Stones cannon. My wish is that they play it this time round and even start with it. You wouldn't find a better start to the show than that.
The word 'underrated' has been used too much; but I think it is entirely appropriate in this case. Like Silver Dagger I see this as the opener in my fantasy show.
I like that they kept the song, the actual released version, alive; the frantic speed, the volume, the horns - the imperfections.

Indeed. The first punk rock song if you ask me.

Whew! I was really sweating it that the esteemed Mr. Snow would not share my opinion on this "really groovy" track.

If I was doing their set list "Have You Seen..." would be the third song in the set.

The first time I herad it was on VH-1. It was the Ed Sullivan performance and I thought "I've got to find the album this is on". I went out and got Through the Past Darkly for this song and it turned out to be a great comp.

"Mother Baby" is on "Past Darkly"? How about that... I haven't even looked at that album in so long. Does anyone still own the octagonal cover?
I want to say that back in the day my copy of "Past" had a different track selection. I am pretty sure that it had "Sittin on a Fence" and "Better Move On" on it. Was the London/Decca thing still in play at that time?

I first heard the song in 1967. I thought it was a fun song. How do I feel now? have a slight headcold, but otherwise fine, thanks - you?

I think its a good song but somewhat chaotic and rushed. But maybe that was their intention. I always wished the arrangement and production would have been better.

The bass, the bass in this particular song pushes me to heaven

I first heard this in 1968 and it was the gateway to a lifelong interest in their music. I especially loved the flip side of the 45 RPM, 'Who's Driving Your Plane.'

Such a sweet comment 1962!
This and other semi-forgotten or lesser-played songs bring back some great memories of life then when we were very young and rather innocent.
Like "Out of Time" and Chris Farlowe's early albums etc. etc.

So true, you hardly ever hear goodies like Heart of Stone, Backstreet Girl, The Last Time, even Not Fade Away, and you can go on and on, truly great songs!

Really a wild song for 1966 the song rocks and is like nothing they had done. I have an out take that is really good as well. I have not listened to it in awhile but i don't think it has horns and is slower than the official version. Love the tune its really a great lost classic/nugget.

Love "... Shadows" really, it's the swansong of The Stones' original sound
before going psych ... but, arguing what is the first punk song is pointless.

BUT, here's one, and it might have predated "... Shadows" by months:

It's also hilarious!
