Rolling Stone readers vote for their top 10 Stones songs

Generally all 68-72 songs with the exception Satisfaction and Paint It Black. Not a bad list but Angie instead of Brown Sugar? Can't You Hear Me Knocking instead of Midnight Rambler? Interesting to see there's nothing off Some Girls or Tattoo You.

Good list. I switched some for my
Top 10 Stones songs:

Gimme Shelter
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Sympathy For The Devil
Beast of Burden
Wild Horses
Midnight Rambler
Sway
Under My Thumb
Moonlight Mile
Can't You Hear Me Knockin'

This includes live versions, I don't always prefer the studio take (Rambler, SFTD is better on Ya-Ya's IMO)

EDIT: Looked at the wrong songs smiling smiley

Here's my suggestion

Jumpin' Jack Flash
Gimmie Shelter
Can't You Hear Me Knockin'
Sympathy For The Devil
Wild Horses
Paint It, Black
Angie
Satisfaction
Sympathy For The Devil
You Can't Always Get What You Want

I'd take none of those listed.

Note the timing of this poll. Obviously, as the de facto Stones publicity firm, RS magazine is sorting out for Mick & Co. ahead of a possible 2013 road trip what 10 songs to definitely include for each concert setlist. The remaining 7 to 10 tracks will be mix and match to play as they go.

Leonard Bernstein or Stravinsky could have made that transcript :

The intensity increases very minute.

My daughter asked me yesterday what is your favorite Stones song. I told her that it changes all the time but if I had to pick one I'd say Gimme Shelter.

I'm a little bit surprised that no Stones-single is among the 123 with 1.000.000 solds in the UK.

I guess that means their biggest single, Satisfaction didn't sell 1 million units.

2 years ago, I posted this list of my favourites:

1. Brown Sugar
2. Slave
3. Jumpin' Jack Flash
4. Everything Is Turning To Gold
5. Before They Make Me Run
6. Honky Tonk Women
7. Dance (Pt. 1)
8. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
9. When The Whip Comes Down
10. Can't You Hear Me Knockin'?

(Note: It was part of a Top 50 and #s33-50 was EOMS. That's why All Down the Line, Happy, and maybe Shine A Light are not there.)
