Still listening to it and still like it a lot. No real hook but it's a nice rocker and has Jagger's best lyrics in quite some time.

Sure. Had the radio edit version going a few times on the iPod yesterday. It's the one modern tune of theirs I can see being used for a car commercial or something...very cool shine on it and that slide solo in the middle is cool in a spooky kind of way.

"piloting a plane
and all the passengers were drunk and insane"

No need to interpret THAT dream, Micky!

When it comes on the car radio - turn up LOUD. Good to drive to.

Although the car stereo is mostly full of Light The Fuse at the moment.

I think he's crash-landing the plane in hell, no? (the zombies is a hint)... But he ends up "on top". So he has a good ending. The drunk and insane passengers??? Not so much...

I listen to it when I'm driving. I listen to it when I'm exercising. I listen to it all the time. I have the radio edit and the "regular" edit back to back on my iTunes and on a CD I burned and listen to both versions back to back a lot. I love DOOM AN GLOOM and too bad if you don't, because I'm getting regular boosts in my day and you're not.

5 licks out of 10... it's is definitely mediocre considering the "spooky" guitar part in the middle only has about 10 notes in it. But, for some reason I'm still liking and listening to it. I like Plundered M.S. better.
I'm going to play D&G two times in a row and very loud at a tailgate on Saturday. I'll give feedback on the reactions.

Yeah great song imho. The only problem I have is I prefer the sound of the radio mix BUT the bass makes my speakers crackle! PC speakers, my Bose speakers at home and my car speakers all just fuzz up with the bass on the radio mix. And I do prefer the longer instrumetal break of the Grrr! version. But lots more guitar licks in the radio...

Oh.. I thought we were doing Freudian interpretations... you know.. planes....

Anyway it all means Mick didn't get on with his father.

I am. I'm still trying to figure out if I like it or not.

As it stands it is OK at best, and Take It Or Leave It at worst.

Heard it last night straight from the horses' mouth and like I thought it would it was cookin' LIVE ! This is their best belter in decades, well at least Mick's best lyrics in decades, groovy riff, could be a bit more hummable I guess.

I'd forgotten all about it - already. Gonna listen to it now.

(2 min later)

I stopped half-way.
What a dull, uninteresting, half-assed, forgettable song.

No. A shit-rock song it is.

Enjoyed video with all the words appearing. Very interesting and fresh concept, much more interesting than the song itself smiling smiley

It's somthing they can write in their sleep. Good, not great by their standards. Somthing us mere mortals would be proud to write.

It's basically the same as any YouTube lyric video (of which there are literally thousands), only with a higher production value. So I don't find it that fresh of a concept, but I'm not holding it against them as there is a proper video on the way. I wouldn't have minded if that was the only video either, I just wasn't going to give it originality points.

Number 97 on the UK singles chart. Yup, I'd be proud of that. With the royalty cheque I could buy another fountain pen to write another number 97.

I meant the way the words appear. That really impressed me more than the song itself, I watched the video several times just to enjoy all this paint smiling smiley I think I would watch it again. Maybe muting the sound now smiling smiley
