This is ending wonderfully. The vaults are wide open. I can spend $44.95 the evening of December 15th and not have to travel to New Jersey. The official boots alone have been fantastic. The Houston '78 show on DVD. Man, it's been nothing but heaven for 'true' Rolling Stones fan. Bill freakin' Wyman on stage with the boys. Thank god the Stones didn't abandon us in 1970 like the Finicky Four did.

Perfectly stated.

It's just a reflection of the state of the music biz and the greedy society we live in, imho. Blame Napster or something...

Doom and Gloom tells me that that can still rock. The makings of a fine new recording but I don't think the realy care anymore. Otherwise, we would have a new CD on the shelves rather than the millionth greatest hits package. Been there done that again and again .If they want my money, gimme some that hasn't been recycled over and over again.

Whoa, careful vermontoffender! jamesfdouglas and the rest of his hot-headed foot soldiers will start ranting and hollering (and snickering) at all of us for bringing up logical and balanced rationale!

Hey look, I'm getting under Justin's skin again.
Dude, you've obvioulsy been thinking about things I've posted here. Maybe it's a sign that maybe you and the more blind cheerleader fanboys are waking the f$%& up about this band that is losing fans daily and deservedly.

Don't fret jamesfdouglas. Justin is very clever with words: "logical and balanced rationale" = his agenda. I would guess J is a lawyer, academician, state, gov't or non-profit employee (I'm a part time academician, so tuned in to this transparent rhetoric). We all vote where our bread is buttered, including Justin. However, even J's side is waking up to his sponsor's policies regarding things hard won, historically speaking.

The Beatles went out in the ultimate mythology. Many wished they hung together, like the Stones managed to do. But one thing you can say: Beatles went out on top.

The Stones had a longer run, and a GREAT post-Beatles run (IMO the Stones' BEST run 1969-1973), but the problem with that longevity is that they are overstaying their welcome, turning into a box-settin', jacked ticket pricin', phone-it-in image act.

I am happy for the personal lives of the Stones: Keith's Patti and Charlie enduring through cancer just like my parents have; they are survivors. Their "appearance" alone is almost worth the price of admission. But artistically, culturally (and politically), it is a BIG letdown. I would rather they cancel these shows than continue down this road. Sure, they will line the coffers for their subsequent generations, and in that respect I guess I would be doing the SAME thing honestly.

But don't expect a discriminating fan to BUY IN.

At the end of the day, are you better off with or without the Stones being (some what) active? If your not the so called "true" fan and wish they hung it up ages ago, then why in the world would you care if they did not follow your recommendation? You got your fill while they were on top, is there anything more you want?

You state that they should cancel these shows and then you state you wouldn't if you were them!confused smiley

And how do you know the Beatles went out on top? The top to many ended in 66/67 and the top may have been in the mid 70's if they continued.

Well, I would hope that a guy who names himself paulm believes that the Beatles went out on top unlike the Stones! Mark Chapman (did he ever call himself johnl?) probably thinks the same.

I'm not interested in perfect grammar (darryl jones), I'm interested in emotion (Bill Wyman). God, StonesTod, I just made myself throw up in my own mouth. winking smiley

1) So the question for us having a problem with the Stones is: would we act any differently if we were THEM? For myself, I would take the cash, but I would not be allying myself with socialist agendas. That, to me, is a crock of S. Own up to your own f'ing greed; I would respect that!

2) The Beatles did go out (a) top; they had many tops, just as the Stones DID.
