...just saw it...Led Zep's O2 appearance...really well done! Visually and musically impressive...great show! Much better than I expected. Hope the Stones can match it...it won't be easy....

Well, they had Live In Texas pre-Celebration Day. There's no comparison. Live In Texas was awesome. I'm sure Celebration Day was just as awesome in its own way. There's no competetion. It's music, not the National Rock League.

I've seen may rock movies in theaters including Stones in Rio and SAL, tonight was the first time I ever saw a movie crowd get into it like they were actually at the concert. It was extremely will done....After the first 4 songs and lots of complaints of the volume not being loud enough, they made the adjustment and started it over from the beginning.

How cool is that?! Thanks for the review, I wasnt too excited about seeing this, but I am geting there... Guess I am going to have to start straying.... getting my kicks elsewhere... because... if they wont rock me, womebody will.

In fact it was so much like a real concert that even a few people got up and left the theater before the encore to avoid the crowd! (Those stupid idiotsdrinking smiley)

Can't wait for this! Lot of good music coming out soon, this, the new Queen bluray and the Elvis "Prince From Another Planet."

I was clapping and felt like I was at the concert as well. Also made the comment I hope to be able to listen to The Stones the next day. It blew me away musically. Some of the video effects I didn't like. But overall it rocked me harder than anything I've seen since the 1970s. I would go as far to say it was Led Zeppelin 1977, again musically.

Saw this film last night at the local Vue. Wow Zep were smokin what a brilliant performance. Much better than I expected after the reviews of the show 5 yrs ago.Awesome!!!

The performance was awesome. You can't play those songs any better. It was good to see, that they loved to play together.
But I didn't like the way the movie was cut. There were to many fast cuts. I felt like watching a Bruce Willis movie.
But in the end it's all about the music.

One of the best concert movies, way better filmed than SAL. Better lighting and not as many quick cuts and barely any audience shots. Oh and BTW the band were smokin hot!

Wow. THAT is cool. If you wanted to watch a rock concert with a volume equivalent to what you'd get at home... funny how movie theatres do that. I had to complain about the volume when I saw SAL.

Perhaps you should see the movie before stating "there's no comparison"...

That's bullshit. Coffeepotman said it's better than SAL and you can't believe THAT? That's a no brainer. Live In Texas is better than SAL.

Compare Live In Texas to Gimme Shelter. You can't. They're totally different. Live In Texas is totally different from Celebration Day. You can compare remakes to originals but not different movies. That's the thing about apples and oranges - they ain't the same.

SAL didn't enter into it but whatever you say so dude. Ain't no use in arguing...

Saw Zeppelin's film yesterday and enjoyed it a lot. Great performance by one of the greatest r'n'r bands ever. And to see Jason Bonham on drums was touching. Page is a show in the show.

The film in itself was a little like SAL: from a visual point of view, the editing is over "dynamic" to make up for a band that, of course, can't be so dynamic on stage (we are not getting any younger, are we?). But on the long run it is slightly tiring. Lot's of great close ups.

Sound was slightly over "pumped up", like Led Zep on Viagra.

I started this thread but didn't really mean to compare them musically. It's just that it was extremely well done with respect to the band being in their later years. And I just hope than the Stones come off just as good. I am a Stones fan...period...but this was much better than SAL.

It's such a limited run. Only theater is 40 miles away and one night only here. I can't make it tonight because of band practice. Anyone know if/when the Bluray and/or iTunes release is planned? Also, why the F&%$ did it take them this long to get this film out?

3rd or 4th week in November I think.

Its coming out on November 19th. This limited release is just sort of a preview a month before it comes out to the general public. Also, I believe they waited so that they weren't making a profit off a tribute concert directly afterwards. It would have seemed in poor taste and that wasn't why they did the concert. But it was filmed for an eventual release, and I guess they thought now would be a good time as a new resurgence of Zeppelin after the 5 year break between now and the whole Mothership/iTunes release. I'm also under the impression this isn't just a coincidence with their Kennedy Center Honors, but I could be completely wrong. I think it just takes Zeppelin long to do things.

Well I for one am very psyched to see this. I've been viewing shitty Youtube videos of this show for 5 years wondering why they were so damn stubborn not to release a video given the rave reviews the show received immediately following the performance. The reason you mention makes a lot of sense and is a classy move all the way.

Agreed. I've had that pretty crappy bootleg of this show for 5 years and can't wait to see what its like all mixed and filmed properly. I was really hoping to see it in theaters either yesterday or today, but literally these happened to be my two busiest in awhile. Guess I'll have to wait for the DVD release. But these theater showings are really fun. Saw Ladies And Gentleman Stones 2 years ago in theaters and it was a blast. Literally like being at the actual concert. I had friends that saw Zeppelin last night and they said it was excellent. Maybe it'll leak early since clearly its already finished if they're showing in theaters cool smiley. This literally seems like the perfect bookend for Zeppelin in my mind. Obviously I'd love them to tour, but its not gonna happen, and the reunion show professionally released is enough for me. I literally need nothing else from them.

Watching the show, you could see how serious they were at the start, then as the show progressed, more and more smiles appeared on their faces...Jones even cracked a few!

I dare not go. I fear it`s too loud. Ladies & Gentlemen was awful (loud). I sat at the second row (almost front row).

The problem will most likely be that it's not loud enough.
