here is a fact
it's almost 2013
these guys are in their 70's
you should be thankful and "HAPPY" that they are doing anything at all
you will never get a recreation of the golden years 67-73-it;s just not gonna happen.
so either enjoy what you've got or continue to be a mope!

There are two versions. The version released on radio and with the official video is the "Radio edit". The drums are heavily edited with loops and Charlie. The accented half time drum fill on the "radio edit"is not on the "GRRRR" edit. There is also a synth bass fill on the radio edit.
The album version is straight ahead Rolling Stones with the guitars and Charlie's drums prominent. It is actually very predictable and sounds like something off of Bigger Bang.
I actually like the radio edit much better. It sounds very contemporary yet still Stonesy.

I like the song. If their mission was to record a "cool" song, I think they've succeeded.
If I could change one thing, I would have made the song a bit more dynamic, especially at the chorus. The bass/synth/whatever it is is great. Overall, I like it! Good job.
Me thinks Mick will have a difficult time on stage with this one.

Just a little update on the facts for the non-believers (re Charlie, Keith and Ronnie on this track):
“Doom And Gloom“ marks the first time that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood have been in the studio together for seven years. Taken from the forthcoming album GRRR!, “Doom And Gloom” was recorded in Paris and produced by longtime Rolling Stones producer Don Was, who has worked with the band on five previous albums (Voodoo Lounge/ Stripped/ Bridges To Babylon/ Live Licks/ A Bigger Bang).
With the radio mix produced by Jeff Bhasker".
