I think it was an insult to Little Walter that the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame inducted him as a "sideman". He recorded over 100 sides for Chess as a bandleader. He was a great songwriter, singer and arranger. Of course he was also a great harmonica player, but his harmonica playing as a sideman on other people's records was definitely not his greatest achievement.
He was perhaps the most modern of the Chicago blues players. Others like Muddy Waters, basically played the same music they had played in the south, only with electric instruments. Little Walter was a true innovator, not only with his harmonica playing, but also with his overall sound, which veered away from the classic southern blues forms and into new territory. His music was louder and heavier and is basically the missing link between classic blues and 1960s/early 1970s rock (Bo Diddley, Rolling Stones, Hendrix, Stooges).
Because of his difficult personality and wild lifestyle even his Chicago peers tended to look down on him. He died shortly before his type of music became the common vocabulary of modern rock. This coupled with the fact that his career is badly documented (there is hardly any film footage of him playing his own music) led to him being perhaps the most overlooked and underrated Chicago blues player.
Little Walter a "sideman"? No way. He was a true innovator and visionary.

Apart from that The Cramps should be in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame. But The Cramps are also wildly misunderstood and underrated. Often seen as a "psychobilly" novelty or "goth" act, they are in fact basically a 1950s style rockabilly band, with one of the greatest rockabilly guitarists: Poison Ivy Rorschach – a walking encyclopedia of classic rockabilly riffs.

And the fact that Poison Ivy's favorite guitarist – Link Wray – is not in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame says it all, really.

I agree, The Cramps are totally underrated - it's important to realize that lot of modern garage rock bands are in great debt to the Cramps - everyone from White Stripes, John Spencer Blues Explosion, Nick Cave, etc - have all credited The Cramps as a major influence,

Scotty Moore, Bill Black and DJ Fontana. The mother f#*kers who started all.

Scotty Moore was inducted in 2000, and D.J. Fontana and Bill Black in 2009.

Nick Cave
T Rex
Roxy Music
Cheap Trick
Kiss
Willy de Ville

and NEW YORK DOLLS - I can not believe they are not in there.
Roxy, Bolan and Dolls are hugely influential.

Totally agree. If not for Johnny Kidd and The Pirates, bands like The Who would have had a more conventional sound. Townshend was a fan and got the idea to be the sole guitarist in The Who once Roger decided to set aside guitar playing on stage. Trouble is, though, from the RNRHOF nomination standpoint, their visibility was limited to the UK and only for a short time. Sadly, most r-n-r fans are unaware of who they were and know of Shakin' All Over only from Live At Leeds.

The Hall is a sham. I visited once and was hugely disappointed....very boring. It should be a badge of honor NOT to belong.

A badge of honor that John "Rotten" Lydon wears quite proudly.

A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is very establishment.

Not very 'rock and roll' to have a hall of fame.

Know it will never happen but Little Walter, Muddy, Willie Dixon, Howlin Wolf, Elmore James etc. etc. ETC. all deserve to have their own big deal tribute.

I've weighed in on this topic too many times already.

Here are a couple you probably thought were already in:

There is such a backlog of great artists from the 60's and 70's...and they are not getting any younger. Let 'em in first.
