Streets of Love by a country mile. It is the worst thing the Stones have ever recorded. I was so embarrassed when that came out. I'd rather listen to Dirty Work or anything on Satanic Majesties than that crap. ASMB I didn't hate but I would have loved to have a less tech/rap heavy version of that song. The guitars sound so good on it though.

I am one of those who will not employ the term "ballad" to almost any slow song. And even, what is a slow song after all?

Many favourites of mine are nominated in this thread as candidates of "worst" songs. To an extent that surprise me.

I almost can't believe it. It makes me a little mad to read it. (I think within myself: What can I have in common with people with such lack of taste or even outright bad taste? But I abstain from saying it. They cannot criticize me for having said it. Or for what songs I suggest.)

No holding back then. On to someone's toes. Worst songs: "Tops" and the singing of "Melody". Of course! How can anybody see it otherwise?

Ballad or not, ASMB is AWFUL. Worst choice for a lead single they've ever had. It made me carsick hearing t for the first time on the radio, and I wan't in a vehicle.

Streets of Love, however, ranks up there with Sweet Neo-Con, Back to Zero, Keys to Your Love and Hold Back for their worst songs EVER.

Streets of Love, Blinded by Love, Keys to your Love....all pretty sub-standard.

Don't ask how I remember this however Streets of Love was actually the love theme for two of the characters on the US daytime soap Days of our Lives back in '05...the song played whenever the two shared screen time...a real low point.

SOL is exceptionally bad. Even Barry Manilow, Barbra Streisand or Julio Iglesias would have rejected that song. I believe schmaltzy is the right adjective here.

The CD single of ASMB features 4 tracks: the single edit (4:08), the Don Was radio remix (3:44), the "no Biz" edit (below) (4:00), and the call out hook (chorus) (:09).

Has anyone heard these remix versions?

How is that even a question?!? SOL is the worst, followed up tighter than a tick's ass by Following The River.

ASMB is a decent song and is not a ballad. Streets of Love is along with Sweet Neo Con two of the worst songs in the Stones cannon. Keith called Goddess in the Doorway Dogshit in the Doorway and then lent his name to Streets of Love?

EXACTLY. WTF!??? Keith and his motherfucking fairy dust. What a load of tripe - him talking like that along with not having one iota of spine about that horrible song being allowed to even be considered yet alone recorded and worse, released!

Stonesnow beat me to it. I have that 4 track cd and the no-biz edit of ASMB is great in my opinion. I also like Streets Of Love so neither song gets my vote for the worst.

Streets of Love is mediocre song, but far from being the worst ballad ever, and "Anybody Seen My Baby" is not a ballad at all.

- I think "Always Suffering" might be their worst ballad ever,

In my perspective "Always Suffering" is possibly the best song of their three latest albums, despite my first impression which was soon corrected.

You seem primarily to be a Beatles fan. Your verdict will backfire then!

The REAL difficult thing to seperate out here on IORR are the posts that are neither irony nor serious, but something there is no word in the dictionary for yet. Like that Beatles thread. I still haven't learned those codes, but I'm trying

I would take SOL LIVE before Shatered, ANY DAY! I've only heard SOL in concert once but it was one of the best songs on that set list. Jagger performed it with rel emotion, and yet not drippy. I'd love to hear " Almost Hear You Sigh " in concert ONCE!

ASMB is a landmark of poor judgement. First they stole the song from K D Lang, seemingly ignorant of it, made a weaker version of it, marketed it as their lead single and produced a costly and overelaborated video of it. However, the K D Lang original is a pop classic. K D Lang is a timeless class act.

I really like ASMB! SOL is a joke, and it takes top honours for the most banal lyrics ever, anywhere, by anyone.

Worst ballad for me is Sister Morphine...whiny and lugubrious, in the same vein as Angie.

I like certain parts of ASMB as a song but I don't like how ASMB sounds. The way it's mixed irks theh hell out of me. I much prefer the sound on SOL. Unfortunately, I think SOL sucks as a tune! (But I do think that they did a nice job on that one live, strangely enough) If only ASMB sounded as good as SOL...I'd like it more.

I can't think of a way that ASMB can sound good. There is a blandness to it. I think if Johnny Cash sang "Streets of Love" and "Love is Strong" for that matter, they would sound pretty good. I think as the stones preform them they are mediorce to aweful with "Streets..." being aweful.

Re: Worst Stones "Ballad" "Anybody seen my baby" or "Streets of Love

I don't like "Streets of Love" at all. It sounds much too kitchy and enunciated. I absolutely can't stand this "I - I - I - I, I - I - I walk the streets of Love" part. Don't know, if it's their worst ballad, but I don't enjoy listening to the track (besides maybe the guitar part).
