Man, it sounds like he's playing a cheap acoustic guitar! I notice that live sound really changed between '67 and '69 -- check out the Who at Monterey vs Woodstock for instance. Or is it the recording?
Clapton used to turn up his Marshall at maximum which gives the guitar the fat sound. I think he wasn't allowed to play that loud in this studioperformance, so this thin sound is the result.

Does anybody here know if there are any concert videos or such with Cream (Bruce/Baker/Clapton) during their heydays in 1966-68? I've seen the farewell concert film, of course, and the 2005 live film, and I've also watched the 1993 documentary. The latter includes some nice but short Fillmore footage from '68, but I've yet to hear about any such films? I've also seen those great White Room/Sunshine/etc clips filmed in that funky living room. And the Beat Club clip, etc. etc.

There is some 1968 stuff at Wolfgangs Vault. L A Forum, Fillmore West. Not complete shows but enough snippets to give those who are interested.

Don't seem to be any videos, though? I can only find audio recordings. Great music though, thanks for the tip either way.
