Will they repeat the 1981 ticket buying experience?

I distinctly recall Always having a radio handy in 81 as I'd heard they would just say Tix on sale......NOW, kinda like they do for club gigs still, and those fortunate enough to be close to a ticketmaster outlet scored tickets and everyone else was shut out.

Wonder if that's what the whole bug eye thing on FB is all about?

Hope one show from London with Wyman is PPV, and I really hope Keith and Mick have buried the hatchet, and they come back in '13 for some more shows. I can't imagine a four and out scenario.

Either way, it's exciting again...WooHoo!!

My recollection is that for the two shows at MSG on Nov 12-13, 1981, you had to send in a post card. Two million people sent in post cards, and 1 percent of them got to buy tickets.

The did the postcard thing for the Pontiac Silverdome too. Two nights at nearly 90,000 each (still, in total, an apparent record) no one got shut out. Of course no one realized that at the time so it was exciting to open the mailbox and find you'd "scored."

I remember this process. In Florida we sent in a cut-out from a magazine for the Orlando shows, not knowing which one you would end up with. I got the second (Sunday) show. Yes, it was certainly exciting finding your tickets in the mail.

If they only do four shows that is going to be one tough ticket. With the vulture ticket brokers and giveaways and so called VIPs there probably won;t be much left for a public sale. I am recalling the shame that happed with the Becon Theatre shows. There were vitually no tickets avaliable . Unless you wanted to so something unsavory to Bill Clinton .hot smiley

Nah. They'll do as they always do: adapt the ticket buying experience to incorporate current technology. Unfortunately, that may include Facebook, which I have thus far avoided completely.
