richards vs townshend hey?
that's a tough one, i think both are great guitarists - in their own way; and to me they are somewhat similiar in style
both are fabulous rhythm guitarists, lead.. well... thats another story; both are good enough and quite comparable
acoustically both play wonderfully and with style and flair
i call it a tie, here; pete's guitar on stuff 'like live at leeds' blows me away just as much as any of keiths live stuff; i don't think itsd fair to suggest one is 'better' than the other
but as a creator or influence? i'd tip the hat to keith there on that category as he is the innovator of the 5 string open G sound, a whole stones sound, and which was a whole new thing
to his credit pete also had sort of later signature sound with the guitar effects like with synthsizer effects etc on 'whos next' and after

Yes, but in terms of pure genre-busting versatility, you've got to give it to Pete. When has Keith ever recorded a track like:

If I thought voting for either really meant something I'd vote, but this is nothing more than a popularity contest with no objective criteria for making the selection. So subjectively speaking which do I prefer? Neither. I love the playing of both for different reasons.
Defeat? I don't take you meaning treacle.Quote

I think you're just bracing yourself for defeat.

Probably. But no once is able to listen to Eddie without chocking to death from laughter.

Chock to death eh? Damn. That's a chock full of death there!
Does anyone know what Eddie sounds like when he chokes?
