Hang out near the 110 and 105 FWYs and you might experience some drive by's.

Try the Lake Shrine Fellowship. Look it up. It's a mile or so north on Sunset off the PCH. It's a really cool place. Jim Morrison used to meditate there. It's closed Mondays.

Also closed Mondays, but offering the best view of the Westside of LA, is the Getty Museum, high on a hill.

Seriously, this is one you should take: From the Sunset Strip, drive down Sunset to PCH. Make a right at PCH and take a mind altering ride for 25 miles up through Malibu and into Zuma. You'll love it.

Excellent suggestions.

Yes! The shrine is a beautiful place. You won't forget it.

Another spot, VERY different from the shrine, is the Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip. For a quick drink. This was quite a hangout for Led Zep and Alice Cooper. Not necessarily the Rolling Stones. Some good memorabilia on the walls and nice waitresses who have seen it all.

If you are up for a challenge, there are some Ramen shops in Little Tokyo that if you eat the super spicy bowl in less that 30 minutes, it's free.

In Town & Country magazine last year, didn't Patti state that she travels to Hermosa Beach (L.A. County) each year?... I would doubt she travels solo, thus, you might spy Keith fishing or something! winking smiley
I couldn't resist...

Here are some you won't find in the guidebook:

1. Chez Jay in Santa Monica for seafood. The food is ok, but it's the old Rat Pack era LA ambience that you'll love. Right across from the Pier.

2. The HMS Bounty in Koreatown on Wilshire (in the Gaylord Apartment building). A great old dive frequented by jazz musicians, writers and other lost souls. Not to be missed. Bobby Kennedy was assasinated across the street at the Ambassador Hotel (sadly now gone).

THe Santa Monica Auditorium is a must: Stones here at the TAMI show in 1964. Plus great architecture.
The LA Forum in Inglewood. 'Nuff Said.
THe Hollywood Bowl Same thing 'Nuff Said.
I've spent some time in LA and tried to see (among other things) the various performing venues and Recording Studios in the cities (Hollywood, Long Beach, Etc). Shoot me an Email if interested and I can hook you up with my list.
