Bill Wyman: I play with the Stones if they get together
Posted by: stonesbarcelona ()
Date: May 23, 2012 10:36

Interview in "La Vanguardia" a Barcelona newspaper.

Sorry for the Google translation but he basically says that he met the Stones on December and he may play one gig for them. HE is very close to Charlie and that he sees Ronnie often. He also said that Keith was really nice to him and that he is e-mailing him !

I'll bet Keith has grown into email like alot from his generation finally have. His kids probably insisted. I think that fax stuff is a bit dated possibly. peace

I read the interview in Spanish, and basically, when he was asked if he will be touring with The Stones he answer was "Not that l know of,everything is up in the air" Indeed he mentioned meeting with the band in Dec,but as far as new tour etc,Absolutely nothing.I guess Ronnie is the one with the "inside" news.confused smiley

- ¿Y estaría el guitarrista Mike Taylor?
- No. Pensamos en ello, pero no es aquel chico que era cuando era un genio.

It reads: - And will join Mick (Mike, sic) Taylor
- No. We thought about it, but he ain't the kind of guy he was when he was a genius.

Well, what Bill says (at least from translation English, Spanish and English again) is:

"If you ask me to go on tour say no, because I do not do these things. It would be only a single concert."

For me, this is interview is no reason for absolute happiness, at least concerning my "wishes":

Fact No1: No tour with Bill, perhaps one gig ...
Fact No2: Mick Taylor isn´t invovled at all ...

But who knows what the future will bring to us .... let´s stay tuned!

Its nothing much different to what he's been saying for years, in fairness.

And also to be fair to Bill, he's keeping his mouth shut (buttoning his lip) and being discreet for the band.

Now Ronnie - that's another matter! grinning smiley

I don't really get Bill's description of Mick Taylor as he is not the genius, that he was before, for all l know he could be describing Keith instead, none of them are what they used to be, so why slag Taylor?.Keith always treated Bill like shit according to what l have read, but now they are best buddies and Taylor is shit???.

I find the attitude expressed toward Taylor (if accurately described) extremely puzzling.

As much as I love the Taylor-Stones I think Wyman is quite right here. What I saw of Taylor lately he's no win for a Rockband anymore.Plus we don't know about his health situation.Think he just keeps playing because he has to for a living.
Of course it's not much better with Keith. But without Keith no Stones.
But wasn't there a comment from Keith like "we try to shape Taylor up"?

Rubbish.

Bill on lead metal detector.

(Don't get too close to Keith's nose).

A bit of an overdramatic exaggeration there. I'd say Bill's in a better position to know if Mick Taylor is up to the task of working with the band again than all but maybe one or two people who post on this forum. Plus, his comment may not necessarily relate to Mick's playing ability.

Judging from recent events, I am not sure which member is up to the task of working with the band again, with the exception of Mick Jagger.

Maybe so, but the significant difference is that Jagger, Richards, Wood and Watts don't have to be 'invited' to work with the band again.
