The picture is taken from our promenade street Karl Johans gate, as seen from the royal castle, zoomed in a bit. This is how our king and his family see the school children's marching with flags on May 17 every year. Except you are missing a bit of the crowd in front of the caste. The king and his family was on the balcony for three hours to ave to the kids and everyone else who came. This is the biggest celebration of the year, we would not miss it for anything, and luckily the Stones tours in Europe usually start after May 17.
May 17, 1814 was the day we wrote our constitution in Norway. You don't see any tanks or weapons in the streets, just the schoolkids with their flags and of course the parents and grand parents buying a lot of ice cream and balloons who soon disappear in the sky.
This picture is taken vthe other way i.e. towards the royal castle:

PS. We lost in ice hockey against Russia, but we have the same faith as Canada and Sweden this year. Only the four best go through to the semi finals. Few years ago Norway was ranked number 20 in the world in ice hockey. Now we are among the 10 best in the world.
