If Bill's IN for the Tour - what about Mick Taylor?
Posted by: MCDDTLC ()
Date: March 21, 2012 15:59

Hey all you TAYLORITES out there, don't you want to see Taylor included in this
"reunion" tour? I know I do. We need to stir the pot enough for the Glimmer Twins
to invite Mr. Taylor back "IN" for this special occasion... Hopefully that's
already in their plans, Jagger seems pleased with his recent work with MT on:
Plundered My Soul - think they would want Taylor around if they want to play that
number on tour..

What do you all think?

Well, yes, that would be great. First concern I have about any farewell activities actually.

Although "someone", I don't know who, chose to put the more Taylor-muted version of PMS on the official Exile re-release. Even though MT really makes that song work (to take nothing away from Jagger's good vocals here).

Would be lovely to hear Taylor play with the Stones again, but do we know for a fact that he wants to?

I vote "yes", of course. Wish it were up to us, but it's not.

I would love to see Taylor back..If Keith is indeed not able to play a entire
concert or tour it could be a really big help to have another Stones to play..

Nothing wrong with Blondie but i rather have Mick Taylor...A real Stone to cover for Keith
and or Woodie..

I never got to see the the Stones play live with Mick as 75 was my 1st concert..So i love to see him
as a Rolling Stone!

The idea of Taylor joining the group makes me apprehensive, but looking at that situation through rose-colored glasses...Between the three of them there can be any combination of acoustic and electric guitars, you have two slide players, three rhythm players, at least one stellar lead guitar player and someone who can play pedal steel. I find the possibilities intriguing to ponder. But they should have a long try-out in the studio first. Can they get on the same page? I'd like to hear more acoustic guitar, more harmonica and a real piano. Everything else I can do without.

yes, that would be great. The 50th Anniversary Tour should include all members + the 2 ex members. The Rolling Stones as a 6-piece-band.

Hey Elmo - everything's great out here in Calif. When to see Peter Frampton at
a Indian Casino on 3/10 - very entertaining!!! he did his whole live album and
some old Humble Pie songs, had these middle aged rockers jumping in their chairs!

The Stones DESPARATLEY need Mick Taylor (and Bill) to generate ANY interest in this 50th anniverary debacle but I would also like to see Rocky Dijon on stage as well (that's if he's not already dead of course) Taylor could name his price and it would be worth every cent to Mick and Keith.

When was it said Bill is "in" for a tour? What tour?

That being the case (and fantastic), was there a reason why MT didn't attend the December jam? Supposedly he was invited right?

Ask the public who Mick Taylor is and that's how much interest it would generate, about nil.

Who cares what the public think? All I care about is what I want.

Above it said they need Mick Taylor to generate interest. To me it won't do that with the public. It's only of interest to the few people on this site.

Tell the public that Brian Jones is coming back. Most of them won't know.

This is a point frequently brought up when the Taylorites, of which I guess I am one, sort of overplay their hand suggesting more enthusiasm for a tour (or recording) beyond a percentage of the hardcore audience.

And, the point is correct in terms of the general public, and filling up a large venue.

But the corollary seems to often go unmentioned though.

Ask the public who Ronnie Wood is? Show them a picture and they might guess its Rod Stewart.

Well, that's how much the interest his loss would make, about nil.

Yet I've read a good amount of distress at the notion he would ever be dropped from the lineup (apart from whoever might replace him).

In the big picture the hardcore audience I am guessing has to matter to some relevant extent - So weighing Taylor or Wyman or Wood I think does matter (at least a little bit).

btw, I do like Ronnie Wood quite alot, though I feel he is marginalized in the Stones musically, over the years, in a way Taylor never was.

Wood has been all over the press the last few years with various women, has a radio show and won awards seen at horse races and snooker games. Where's little Micks public profile?

I love Mick Taylors music, seen him 4 times (once with John Mayall - recorded every show and they're all circulating for all you out there to enjoy). But I don't think Mick returning after 39 years will do much.

A lot more people know who Ronnie Wood is than Mick Taylor.

I really find it amazing that some people who supposedly love the Stones are so ambivalent about a member of the group coming back - especially a member who created so much magic with the band. Look at any Stones setlist from the recent era and see just how much the group relies on material created during the years when Taylor was a member. There are six living members of the Rolling Stones. I can't think of a better way for the band to cap its legacy by having all xis on stage. What Stones fan wouldn't be excited by this? Many, I guess, judging from this site.

I really think part of the problem is that there are some fans here who grew up with the Darryl Jones-and cast of thousands version of the band, and that's what they actually prefer. The Stones to them is not just Wood, but Darryl, Chuck, Blondie, etc. That's what they like, and they seemed almost threatened by any variation - even the return of two actual members.
