the studio recording, because of that brilliantly mad cymbal that Mr Miller gets going in the build-up to going into doubletime -
the way it shuffles and stumbles along off-kilter like a refugee from an insane asylum builds up such fantastic tension -
and then the release when it falls so gloriously into place when the tempo changes is just ... ahhhhhh YES!!
the Rock & Roll Circus rendition is my favourite concert version
i love the Rolling Stones

I prefer LA 07/10/75 before that one, even though 07/13/75 is also terrific

The studio version was a long time headphones favorite, but as time goes on I can do without the chorus. The Circus performance is a fav as well. Then I'll second 9/8/73, 1st; and the '72 Jack Daniels. The latter's solo varies from the general lovely, relaxed almost Hawaiian sounding ones performed on that tour. Beautiful. Perhaps the DC timing and setting inspired Taylor's extravagance that day.
yep, welcome to new york, most epic version. love micks intro, love mick & keef on the chorus, and taylor is brilliant as usual.Quote
