not at all brother , ronnie has just done a kind of cool interview for the Radio Times. ie BBC, alas i can not paste. ... but i have the copy, and yer he kind of hints, its .. but , as we live in London , we kinda know already,, hey , they are a london band,,, we know... HA..... But then its only rock n roll..
well 24th february is past so is it a good show? Ronnie being a such a nice person must be worth watching in a show with guests just like the one Elvis Costello had...
Yes, it is good. It's basically a film of his radio show, with Ronnie and a guest in a studio which is decked out with guitars and amps (which seem to be purely decorative), and it is edited down so that we get about 30 secs of each song that is broadcast, and then it's back to the chat, which is mostly reminiscing. The songs include one or two by Ronnie / Faces / Stones etc., one or two by the guest, and some good tracks by other people, and maybe something played live - in the last show, Ronnie and Kelly Jones (Stereophonics) dueted on 'Don't Let Me Down' on acoustic guitars. Definitely worth watching if you can get the channel.
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with it.Some weeks the gusts don't get much airtime. Mac got about 10 minutes the other 20 was Ronnie groovy grandad dancing to the records he was playing.
This week with Toots he hardly asked a question.
To be fair I do enjoy Ronnie's anecdotes about the famous people he's met but watching him listen to records is a bit boring.
I think it's been pretty much unwatchable, personally.
the idea works reasonably well on radio, but watching a couple of guys in a studio listening to (bits of) records and reminiscing over them in a rambling manner doesnt really make for good television. Especially when the host isn't really much of an interviewer to begin with.
God knows what Sky Arts were thinking when they commissioned it.
Tomorrow we will see the last of the ten TV-episodes (although there is rumour that there will be a special episode with Paul McCartney in May). I hope Ronnie will be back on the radio with his show afterwards. He recently said that he did about 100 shows by now, 86 were aired, so there's a lot of new ones in the can (like the two telecast shows with Slash and Patti Boyd...).
