from the cdc:

Prescription Drug Overdoses — a U.S. Epidemic

In 2007, approximately 27,000 unintentional drug overdose deaths occurred in the
United States, one death every 19 minutes. Prescription drug abuse is the fastest
growing drug problem in the United States.

Oh no, not her. That Bobby Brown was never any good for her with all his crack head friends. I am really hurt by this news. What a gifted singer. What a waste.

This is why cocaine is one of the worse drugs on the planet. The health issues and the depression that accompany it's regular use were likely too much for this troubled soul. I am pissed off and emotionally spent after hearing this news on IORR today.

RIP Whitney. You'll get your's Bobby... peace

Yeah, the press is being kind, too soon to start with the blame-game....
But my second reaction was - 'That damn Bobby Brown!'
And my circle of friends/family all had the same reaction.
You can say people make their own fate, and it may be true that Whitney was not a stranger to drugs before him - which is what some will claim - but I believe there are those that become a gateway to another's destruction. He was Whitney's Blake. (Amy)
They were thugs, and they were going take these women down to their level.
And they're still alive.

The only thing Cocaine offers is a false sense of security.

"Houston had "a plethora of sedatives including Lorazepam, Valium, Xanax, and a sleeping medication that was found in her hotel room," a law enforcement source said.

I wonder if this might result in a Michael Jackson-style "doctor crime" if it's proven she OD'd.

That's why Mick feels and moves very comfortably on stage.

No. Mick Jagger is a runner! There's actual film footage of him running wind sprints in preparation of the San Paulo (Brazil) concert.

I can't really understand what she saw in Bobby Brown. That is a mystery to me. She could have done better in that department.

I don't want to judge anyone, Rip This. But since I liked Whitney Houston I couldn't help noticing that Bobby Brown, most certainly, wasn't the right choice for her. My belief is that she could have done better than Bobby. Feel free to state the opposite. But until someone convinces me the opposite, that is my belief. If that means I'm judgemental - so be it.

Some women are drawn to particular men and can't get free, like they
are trapped. That result is due to the man, some men are good at that.
Maybe she was scarred to leave. Its very sad but still love her.

Unfortunately John Entwistle can't say the same thing.

he had a heart attack that they attributed to cocaine. and that's certainly
a reasonable conclusion, if you have a bad heart to begin with. but anyway,
my point was you don't fall asleep in the bathtub and drown if you're doing cocaine...

crack is much more dangerous of course, the way it concentrates the hit.
and the damage over time.

but ODing by snorting cocaine is extremely rare.

versus 27000 a year killed by doctors and pharmecuetical companies legally.

and that may not even include people like whitney. they may rule it
accidental drowning because of exhaustion or like brian jones "misadventure"
and not technically from an overdose.

so, yeah, 27000 literally OD to death on prescription drugs and probably
they contribute substantially to ten or twenty times that amount of deaths.
but the media and others will talk about cocaine.

Actually, 27,000 ODs due to script meds is an extremely conservative estimate.

she hasnt done crack or cocaine or bobby brown in a very long time...

doctor prescribes, drugstore supplies, who's gonna help her to kick it?

prescription drugs plus alcohol.

if it was cocaine she'd undoubtedly still be alive.

Might be true : in the US there are far more ppl on prescription (synthetic) opiates than on street powder stuff.

Re: OT: RIP Whitney Houston

and as for bobby brown, he has one misdemeanor battery rap against Whitney
but no other real crimes. whitney was not seriously injured. both recognized the
codependent nature of the relationship and divorced reasonably amicably, both
cleaning up in the process.

"In 2006, Brown appeared on "Beautiful", the third single from Damian Marley's
album Welcome to Jamrock.

In 2010, Bobby Brown surprised his fans by dueting with American R&B and soul
singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress Macy Gray on her new album
titled The Sellout. Together they did a song "Real Love". Macy Gray divulged the
pleasure of working with Bobby Brown to Essence magazine on the project, saying
that "actually he came to the studio, since he doesn't live far, and knocked out
his recording in two hours. We're friends and his one-year-old son is my godson.
His fiance is one of my best friends in the whole world. I met Bobby a long time
ago, but we really got to know each other through her."

As of September 27, 2008, Brown began touring with fellow New Edition members
Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill in a new group named Heads of State. The group
continues to tour worldwide. They are currently recording an album."

Bobby broke down in tears onstage when he heard the news about his ex.

Would y'all quit parroting the National Enquirer? You're embarrassing yourselves.

Terribly sad news.

Probably drowned in the bathtub after taking too many sedatives.
An accident. Hell, how many times have I come close to falling
asleep in the tub? Too many to recall. It happens.

Re: OT: RIP Whitney Houston

I take 1 lorazepam 3 times a day.

It goes great w/ Stones.
