Hello there

My fav Boot of all time is the 'unofficial' Brussell's 1973 2CD Album
Simply put - AMAZING!!!, great playing, hi qual recording, great songs, great lineup

I havent found a boot from 1971,72 that has the quality of this recording tho..
I've heard alot with great playing on but poor recording, but none with both Great PLaying and Great Recording too

can anyone point me in the right direction, if you include a gig 'date' can you let me know which is the best quality recording wise of the gig i'll be over the moon

Thanks for all your help

Live at Leeds (1971) is a good quality recording and performance. 1972 is quite a mixed bag as far as quality goes. I like Ahmet Ertegun - Thank you Kindly and Very Ancient - Thank you Kindly. It's also worth checking out a few of the soundboard boots from the Australian tour in 1973.

Keep Your Motor Runnin and Welcome To New York are the ones to hunt down for you. Make sure you get the wide stereo version of WTNY, and stay clear of the awful "swingin pig" release of that title.

aha!
sadly i got the swingin pig version and your damn right, its awful quality (great playing tho..)

thanks for that - do you know the name of the best boots for these? i love the 73 tour but wanna hear earlier - people seem to think taylor was Overplaying/Richards abit too dishevelled/wasted in 73.

Personally i Love 73, however would love to hear some earlier to compare

thanks for posting!

peace

If you are interested in buying a collectable vinyl in wide stereo quality and mint condition.....you are lucky! I've got one to sell. 200 dollars.

But if you are sane.....download Nasty Songs (Dogs And Cats) or Touring Party 1972 (Rattlesnake) via torrents. Those are rips from the best sounding vinyls.

1st half: AUD, 2nd half: SBD. I think you can find the torrent on Hungercity.org

Yeah Captain, second everything Erik says. In 72 it is widely accepte4d that once they hit Ft Worth and Houston, and then on into DC, Norfolk, Charlotte that they were firing on all cylinders, and were on top of the game. Those sets are stellar. Best recordings seem to be from the Texas shows. then Philly and Boston are great too.

In case you still consider the short Australian stint as part of the 72 shows, they are IMO the best ever. Once they get to Europe in 73 they add the GHS songs - but in Far East in Winter they still play the US 72 set basically, I find some of those sets rival Brussels 73, even surpass it.

I agree with Palace here. Although I love Brussels for many reasons, (band's performance, quality recording) my favorite shows from this time period are the Australian shows in Perth and Sydney. The setlist mirrors the '72 North American tour, although it includes Honky Tonk Women and a blistering Little Queenie.

Brussels focuses too much on GHS. I realize the album was just released, but I prefer the EOMS tracks instead. Still, Heartbreaker and Angie were performed admirably and nothing IMO, ever tops or will ever top by any band including the Stones, their performance of Midnight Rambler on Brussels. Amazing!
