Yeah, all for an ABC tv special.
Very rock'n'rolly indeed.
mhm. but, it's important that the beatles are worse than the stones. if "we" can't win by winning, we can at least win by having "them" lose...
I think that's called 'Winning Ugly'....a bad song to be sure, but it beats anything the Beatles put out in 1986.
Wrong. Anything The Beatles didn't release in 1986 is better than Winning Ugly.
Gazza, your point about finishing old songs versus not doing something 'fresh' makes, for the most part, no sense - what's the difference if a song was written in 1977 or 2012? The date (OK so the musicianship was a lot better then as well). Upon release it's still 'fresh' - because it hasn't been out yet. Finishing a song is finishing a song. Some of those leftover songs are good. No one can help it that Mick decided to go with lesser good songs to put on the album and decided to forsake quality for currently. Being current was more important for some SuperHeavy reason. Had he finished Misty Roads etc and not something else no one would know the difference.
The Stones are obviously capable of still writing shit songs as the new Licks proved as did ABB.

Because with the exception of a few songs is a terrific album.

Life is short, one look and it's over
Comes as quite a shock
All I've got is some memories
Stuck in an old shoebox
I think it's very good, great even. I can empathize with this, to me it says something. And there are more songs on the same level.
I like it.I got used to trust my taste. I hope you will excuse me

TO me it sounds like a phoned-in self-derivitaive and pretty much forgetable album. And by forgettable I mean disposable. If my copy ever went missing I doubt I'd notice for a long, long time.

To each his own. I like this album. There is nothing to argue about. I think that last Woody Allen' movie is terrible, but many people find it exciting. Since I basically love Allen it does not bother me that someone like it.
ABB pales by comparison with the Stones albums from 60/70s, but compared to other artists' albums from the last decade it looks pretty decent

Midnight In Paris - best Woody Allen film ever, partially because he's not in it.
ABB is better than Dirty Work. That's about it. Can't rate it any higher than that. Remove the shit songs and it could go up in rank.

The Stones don't need to write a new album. They just need to go back and get this good stuff:
1. Not the way to go
2. Dancing Girl
3. You Should Have Seen Her Ass
4. It's all wrong
5. Fast Talking Slow Walking
6. Misty Roads
7. I need you
8. Fiji Jin
9. What gives you the right?
10. She never listen to me
11. Chainsaw rocker
12. You got it made
OMG...what a great album!

Not The Way To Go is a killer track. Mind boggling that Mick didn't finish that one for the SOME GIRLS reissue! Along with some others...
