Wrong credits on 7" No Spare Parts
Posted by: Pete66 ()

The back sleeve of the new 7" single No Spare Parts, released by A&M Records, lists the B-side: Before They Make Me Run with lead and background vocals by Mick Jagger, with Keith apparently only contributing background vocals.(Perhaps someone can post a picture of it.)

Now don't these people care what they put out, isn't someone at A&M Records doublechecking these things?

Pete.

The Stones don't have a deal with A&M regardless of who A&M is owned by. Consider it a bootleg since it is incorrect.

There was another thread which mentioned UMe absorbed EMI, of which A&M was a label of. Don't know if that is true or not....assuming it is true, interesting that they've put Stones material on that label. I believe it was the label Herb Alpert started....maybe the stones are putting out a Jazz album?

It is true. I bet Bryan Adams also will welcome the Stones to the family...

It's no bootleg. It's the official 7inch single, numbered edition. Made in the EU.
I've no idea why it's on A&M.

I know it's no bootleg but think of it as one - wrong credits, just how bootlegs get things wrong.

A&M Records belongs to PolyGram (UMG) since 1989, changed to „Interscope Geffen A&M Records“, still UMG, in the year 2000. It's the label who is publishing The Black Eyed Peas, too ... cool smiley

What? A&M was picked up by PolyGram in 1989, which was under Universal. So when that happened it became three labels in 2000? So what is it now? It's 12 years later - is it still Interscope Geffen A&M or just A&M? And no matter of that it's been under Universal since 1989?

What do you expect, the 2009 remaster of GOATS HEAD SOUP for Universal Music Group/Interscope/Polydor showed ABKCO as the publisher of "Angie." Quality
Control ain't what it used to be. A lesson we all should have learned after LIVE LICKS was released.

Maybe it's the alternative Before They Make Me Run with Jagger on lead vocals (2011)! Have you listened to it yet?

But seriously, is it an alternate take? PMS single had an alternate All Down the Line, right?

Plundered My Soul had the album version of All Down The Line.
And No Spare Parts has the album version of Before They Make Me Run as B-side.
All Down The Line alternate was only available through amazon uk as a free download.

They could have choosed the original US single version of ADTL for PMS and the Bob Clearmountain remix of Before They Make Me Run for No Spare Parts. But that would have been too cool I guess.

Thanks for providing the scan! Indeed it's just the 2009 remaster on the B-side.

Still confused about A&M though. Which company released the Some Girls coloured vinyl lps?

Pete.

ABKCO [Westminster] is publisher of Angie, as I've told you lately:

A&M is in the UMG, as I told you in my post above and you can see here:
[en.wikipedia.org].

The credits on the No Spare Parts 7" telling us Mick Jagger as lead vocals on Before They Make Me Run are wrong. That's it.

With all due respect to HighwireC, in the US publishing rights to "Angie" were initially controlled by Promopub until administration was turned over to ColGems-EMI Music in 1978. The ColGems-EMI Music publication credit appeared on all releases in the US through 2002. The 2009 reissue is the first time ABKCO has been listed Stateside.
