90 second samples of new Some Girls tracks available

go to Itunes, and scroll down and switch country to UK, and do a search for Some Girls and the deluxe edition will come up including a SO YOUNG with extra piano I guess. Claudine sounds original vocal too me.

So Young has a new harmony backing vocal on it.

Thanks! I'm loving the snipets. The new vocs are much better (from what i can here) than the exile ones, and often it's really knowledge of the boots and assumption that no final takes were in the can that convinces me they're new, rather than sound. i guess the nasal sound of 78 is closer to Mick's actual style than the throaty style of Exile; and simply, jagger seems in better form than last year. I never liked any of the Exile "outtakes", but will probably enjoy these ones. Cool!

you cant tell by 90 second samples, but overall the material sounds fresher than the Exile tracks even though I dont hear anything as good as PLundered.

Wow. Jagger's singing on When You're Gone is atrocious.

Don't Be A Stranger doesn't sound like it's from Some Girls - or even by The Rolling Stones. It has resemblance to Not The Way To Go slightly but it sure isn't that song. That must be the song with Don Was on bass.

We Had It All sounds untouched! Possibly a different vocal track than what is on the bootleg but certainly from that time.

I Love You Too Much is strange. It must be a different take than the boot that is out.

I'm still floored that Fiji Jim, Misty Roads and I Need You didn't get included on this. When You're Gone is just...filler.

Pity about Don't be A Stranger though... Always loved the outtake, but this seems to fall on the wrong side of 2012 Mick vocal style.

Claudine seems to have a harmony vocal, along with the original vocal.

Dont be a Stranger is 'Do You get enough' but with a new vocal (and lyrics).

Based on a few seconds, there seems to be a LOT of 2011 vocals overall.

We Had It All steals the show for me

I make it 4 original vocals (including Keiths), the 1994 So Young one and the rest 2011. Not surprised as most of the circulated outtakes had unfinished, slurred and pretty unreleasable vocals imo.

you don't suppose there'll be a karaoke version for the hardcores?

What songs do you think are 1977-78 (or 79) vocals?

On listening to that, my guesses are Claudine, We Had It All, Tallahassee Lassie and Petrol Blues.

Which is a not impressive return considering two of those songs are covers which were recorded AFTER the Some Girls album was released , one was a finished take which was shortlisted and mixed for release and the other is a demo on piano.

'Tallahassee Lassie' does sound like it may be a different take than the one that was bootlegged, though, and Mick's vocal is much more up in the mix (he sings off-mike on the other version).

Does anyone else think that the take on here of 'we Had It All' is a different vocal from the bootlegged one? * The way Keith sings the word 'man' in 'when I was your man' sounds different to my ears.

The songs do sound pretty good though. I think for the most part Mick can get away with new vocals on these recordings better than he could on songs from 1970-71.

* - edit. I see DragonSky thought 'we Had it all' was different as well. Sorry.

Surprises:

--Petrol blues is untouched
--Don't be a stranger=Lucky in Love(?) I have that in my head for some reason
--So Young is DIFFERENT than the 1994 version. Almost sounds like alternate 1994 takes.
--Do you think I care sounds like new vocal.
--I really like the other blues one.

Amazing how many people at IORR have whined for years about the vaults not being open, and now that they are, they're still whining.

Whiners.

you have to download ITUNES (itunes.com). but be shure to switch to the UK store (the flag at the bottom). the german itunes for example has only 30 seconds.

i downloaded ITUNES for these tracks too :-)

The bonus version of "So Young" with piano is pretty cool too.

Can't post a link since it's not on a website. Open iTunes (or download it if you don't have it), then go to the iTunes store, and in the lower right hand corner click on the flag, then select United Kingdom, then search for Some Girls Deluxe.

the other backing track on the other blues one sounds somewhat like "Some People Tell Me"

Mick does sound like he did a lot of 2011 vocalizing on these tracks. But overall these 1:30 or so snippets sound really strong.

I wonder if Don't Be A Stranger lyrics are directed at Keith, perhaps another in a long line of Glimmer Twins "love" songs.

Love You Too Much is certainly the best 2011 impersonating 1978 vocal I've ever heard. I mean, I *think* it's new.

Most of the comments posted above yours were either pretty positive or merely speculating on whether a vocal is new or not. Are you reading a different thread?
