OK, quick, when was the last time you listened to Primitive Cool from start to finish? (For me it was probably 1990).

A few months ago. A very good album. Love Party Doll.

It's so very lonely, you're 2,000 Light Years from home

Let's Work is the most appropriate name for a single from that album I can possibly imagine. Listening to that album is definitely work....unpleasant work, like ditch digging or embalming bodies...

kind of difficult to listen to the whole thing.

I listened to it about 5 years ago.

Prior to that, probably 1988.

Unlike StonesTod, I didn't throw mine away. I care about the environment.

It's got 2 of his best songs ... Radio Control & Peace For The Wicked. And I like Kow Tow & Party Doll a lot too. Throwaway & Shoot Off Your Mouth are decent, so overall a pretty good album!

Actually, now that you mention some of those songs, it really isn't a bad album.

If memory serves, the production is horrible, and it also has probably the worst lead single off an album in the history of music.

Too bad!

Yes, Let's Work is really bad. Non-listenable. Say You Will is also a bit corny for my tastes, but I could listen without skipping. And I know many don't like it, but I do like War Baby a lot too.

This year. In fact on Monday I was at a Halloween dinner party at a restaurant, and a friend was really annoyed that the restaurant didn't serve fish on Mondays. He was a bit rude to the waitress about it. And after she left I told him, "Mondays are notoriously terrible days to order fish in restaurants, because the fish is usually left over from a Friday delivery, so not too fresh. In fact Mick Jagger played on that fact in his song SHOOT OFF YOUR MOUTH, where he sings:

`I turn around
You smell like Monday morning's fish
I can't get near enough to take a goodbye kiss'

"So this restaurant is doing you a favor. Never order fish on Mondays, even if it's available."

I like the album and find the aversion posted above comical.

Having said that, it would have been improved by the inclusion of this song:

I am reminded of the situation vis-a-vis "Blue" and GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY -- in both cases Mick relegated the most traditional rootsy song from the sessions to a b-side. I guess he finds it too retro?

I don't think I will ever achieve to join the 'Listened to Primitive Cool in its entirety in one go' club.

Must be back in the 90s, but I've picked it up now and then and listened to Say You Will and Party Doll.

I never did!

I don't even own the thing. Someone gave me a CDR copy that ended on my ipod, so occasionally, when on shuffle mode, a PC song comes up. And every time I find myself asking "what's this shit and who put it in my ipod", then Jagger starts singing and I say "ah ok" and skip to the next song ...

I skip "Let's Work" but can handle the rest and like some of it a lot.

Re: POP QUIZ: PRIMITIVE COOL

Second best Mick solo album and a very strong album overall let down by a terrible single. Had Mick not included a dance remix of "Let's Work" on the album, the song would have actually been better. Mick's opening guitar riffs on "Let's Work" and "Throwaway" are actually quite good.

i can't help but think that in hindsight even mick himself is embarrassed by this album...and hopefully gitd, too. both low points in stonesy history...

After Mick's first solo-album "She's The Boss", I was so disappointed that I skipped "Primitive Cool", never gave it a listen.

I was really surprised and happy thought, with his "Wandering Spirit", IMO the best "Stones-album" since 1983

I don't remember. Probably mid to late 90's. But I haven't listened to any of his albums straight through in a long time.....other than "The Very Best of Mick Jagger".
