This must be the first made Punk/Garage-rock-song since both Johnny Thunders and Ramones has recorded it. Fantastic to read what says about Stones recording:
"There are no electric guitars on this song according to Keith Richards. What sounds like them are 2 acoustic guitars and the sitar, recorded, quoting Richards, "through a cassette player with no limiter". The sitar's twang also leads to the confusion". IMO the only recording that can match Dylans original recording of 'Like a Rolling Stone' in rawness and power...
Except that that is actually Walter Lure of the Heartbreakers doing a guide vocal for the Ramones as he played on the Ramones version. Thunders not on this anywhere, I promise.
No, you didn't. This is on the Heartbreakers 3-cd Down to Kill set and it says right on the back "Walter Lure and the Ramones-Street Fghting Man". Thunders did not play on this.
Woulda been cool if he had done a version of this but most of his Stones covers were acoustic-As Tears Go By, Play With Fire, Wild Horses come to mind.
