I would very much like to hear a version of Talk is cheap with Mick on vocals.

That would be fun.
Mick sings Keith's songs very well...but I would insist that Keith keep 'Make No Mistake' for his cut.

Could you ever imagine Mick coming out with anything as gloriously swaggering as these ?. Mick's all about the gloss, the over produced middle of the road pap. Meanwhile Keef was bashing out some good ol RNR with the dirt still under its fingernails

I can't fathom how ANYONE could prefer that ropey Mick toss to these rough n ready gems"]

You mean like these:

(forget that this video is Keith/Anita lovefest - the song is Jagger all the way, with some help from Cooder.

Anybody got any Red Devils/Jagger clips?

Exactly treacle: I'd say Talk Is Cheap is the best solo Stones album but that Wandering Spirit is superior to Main Offender.

i would very like to hear a version of talk is cheap with pre-1978 or so keith vocals, before his voice took a major turn for the worse and became sleep-inducing. of course, there would no crappy winos back-up vocals either, they are almost as bad as the ones used by the vegas stones.

I love both albums equally. For me, the nineties were a very fine decade for the Stones in the studio and for Mick and Keith solo. A definite highlight era. My only disappointment was the Stones tours were hit and miss affairs and seemed built on the Steel Wheels model rather than having the flavor of the album they were touring behind as had always been the case in the past, even with Steel Wheels.

Yeah, Don't Tear Me Up is fantastic. Full of swagger and passion. A great rock R and B romp. To describe it as middle of the road pap is totally missing the boat.
