Interesting as most of Qs' target audience probably weren't around 25 years ago.

Arguably U2s best work is from the pre 87 years. After Zooropa I find the stuff listenable but not as good (I haven't heard Atomic Bomb and Horizon). Never really got October at all and found Rattle And Hum a bit patchy.

As I always say it's just another poll yakety yak blah blah. On a U2 web site they're all happy, here it just stirs things up. Music is about what you like not awards and sales and opinion polls.

Eighteen awards were handed out, including to rapper Tinie Tempah for Best
Male Artist and to U.S. internet sensation Lana Del Ray, who was crowned the
Next Big Thing.

Brian May and Roger Taylor accepted entry into the Q Hall of Fame on behalf of
glam rockers Queen, and Take That's Gary Barlow was honored as Classic
Songwriter.

This says it all. U2 is the greatest act for the same people who honour these.
So thereĀ“s no point.

"Coldplay were voted Best Band in the World at the Moment"

I honestly find this revelation to be far more disturbing.

Haha, yes I saw that one too. And even weirder is the singer from Coldplay saying "We are about 7th". Does he have like a running chart that he measures himself and others on?

I still am convinced though that soon they will become hip again. U2 , I mean.

I love U2 very much but they haven't been hip since about 1984. Hip doesn't matter though, compared to what happened to their songwriting skills?

I once heard Coldplay described as U2 lite. With U2 being quite lite already, and I like U2, they are great live, I shuddered. I tuned out after Parachutes.

Sure the most boring act.

thumbs up

The most amazing dangerous band coming through during the last 25 years is easily Oasis. They're the best "new" band. But now new music isn't interesting anymore cos youtube means there's no real need to go see shows by new bands.
Legends yes, if Dylan, Stones, Beady Eye, The Who, Macca, Mavis Chuck Berry comes, then I'll go, but new unknown bands? Youtube in 2 secs, good or bad.

Just heard on the radio that U2 may end their career pretty soon. Regarding The Edge 50% chance that no more NEW music will be released. Robin on the Sternshow pick up the news and passed it to the listeners.
Rock and Roll,

"Act" yeah I'll buy that. They are actors pretending to be a R n' R band.

Over rated and boring!

I listened to some U2 albums hundreds of times, but after all you can't leave behind tour (that was still great to me) i found them boring and especially Bono.

Yes human, I saw that film, and came away with same feel as you. Edge was such a drip; actually the whole film was pretty lame. They should let them go for a few more days and relax.
best part though was Page with his record collection, playing air guitar to...was it Link WraY?

If the band was THAT bad,he wouldn't fill big stadiums like they did.
One can dislike how they sound -I don't like either how the Edge 's guitar sounds - but it's something big to see on live.

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

The same magazine that voted the Stones best live band of 1990. Bet no one wants to argue the point on that?
