I really liked their early stuff especially their first lp, horizontal, Idea, Odessa was amazing.

Have those, plus Rare, Precious & Beautiful Vol 1 & 2 (which this was stuff they had hits with in Australia 3 to 4 years BEFORE) making the move to England in '67 and getting the tastes of '1st fame' as Barry called it. Love the Brothers Gibb (Vince & Colin too from the 60's version of the band), and this was my fav period of the band. It's a shame they got the shaft cuz of disco, but this is JMHO...

Such a talented family. A shame only one of them is left. I like a lot of their pre disco era songs and a few disco era songs and even some of their later stuff (Alone).

I had that on VHS. I'll have to get it on DVD one of these days. I highly recommend it to anybody.

Well, just had to get that in there. I do like them, just not a real big fan of disco, but was a big fan of their pre-disco music.

Just this week I showed my girlfriend a documentary of them. She wasn't aware that they even HAD a career before the disco era. The look on her face though, as they went through their career, realizing HOW MANY of their earlier songs she'd heard and knew, not knowing it was them, was incredible.

I was lucky that my parents had Best of the Bee Gees 1 & 2 and played them a lot when I was little. At three years old, this was the first Bee Gees-realted album that they bought me...

Yes, songs you knew not knowing it was them. Before I knew Lennon's entire catalog, I used to think the song Lonely Days was one of his songs from the early 70s.

Love them but always found the title of Fanny (Be Tender With My Love) highly amusing. Don't think you could get away with that now.

Matter of interpretation I suppose...the working title was "In Arears"

That sounds almost as dodgy. Especially if you play around with the letters! >grinning smiley<

They did more than "a" Beatles cover. There was the ill conceived Sgt Pepper Album/Movie. The Bee Gees contribution is comprised of doing ultra faithful renditions of Beatles classics with George Martin at the helm. Same for Peter Frampton if I am recalling right (its been awhile). But it may be an interesting curiosity for those that haven't come across it before.

Aerosmith, Billy Preston, Earth Wind and Fire and Alice Cooper put their own stamp on things. Maybe Jeff Beck playing guitar on the recording, but I don't remember -

But yeah, Bee Gees were great throughout their career!
